The Edinburgh World Justice Festival will host '1.4 Billion Reasons', the Global Poverty Project presentation, on Saturday 16 October, 11:00am, at Augustine United.

Launched at a high-level UN Summit in 2008, '1.4 Billion Reasons' was put together by expert advisors, including Hugh Jackman and Jeffrey Sachs and was inspired by the impact of Al Gore’s 'Inconvenient Truth'.

1.4 Billion Reasons presentation demonstrates that progress has been made in efforts to address extreme poverty and aims to re-inspire and equip individuals to take action. Its aims are to invoke the optimism and enthusiasm that surrounded Make Poverty History to catalyse a movement to end extreme poverty.

Elisha London, Country Manager for the Global Poverty Project said “Our vision at the Global Poverty Project is of a world without extreme poverty within a generation. This is achievable but we all have a part to play in realising this. '1.4 Billion Reasons' empowers individuals to take concerted action against extreme poverty in their own lives.”

More than 40,000 people will see 1.4 Billion Reasons in the UK this year as it is delivered to over 200 schools, universities, community groups, different faith groups and businesses.

The Edinburgh event will take place on Saturday 16th October 2010, at Augustine United (41 George IV Bridge, EH1 1EL) between 11:00 and 12:30.

This event is free and open to all, but you must RSVP using the link below to guarantee a place at this event: www.globalpovertyproject.com/events/attend/306
