The Wildkatz Social Centre is an autonomous community space located in the picturesque village of Stanmer, just north of Brighton. It opened it’s doors to the public on Saturday 25th September with a screening of the Smash EDO campaign film “On The Verge” and a free gig by John Player Specials and The Wildkatz Project. From Monday 27th Sept - Sunday 3rd October we are hosting a week of free stuff, including workshops, music, food and art.

The program for the rest of the week is still subject to change as we are entirely reliant on volunteers for all are activities so some events change or are added at the last minute, but currently we have:

Tuesday 28th - Wildkatz Open Jam

Usually the Wildkatz host an open mic session at the Cowley Club on Tuesdays. However it's relocating to the Wildkatz Social Centre for the week. Bring instruments, art materials and more.

Wednesday 29th - Movie Night

We set up a projector, bring a stash of copyleft movies and the audience decide what to watch. Likely topics include climate change, anarchism, the arms trade, squatting and migration.

Thursday 30th - Alternative Freshers’ Fair

Stalls and workshops provided by local, national and international political and campaign groups, including Smash EDO, Solidarity Federation, Brighton Hunt Saboteurs, No Borders and Brighton Antifa.

If you or your group want to have a stall or put on a workshop please email us.
Friday 1st October - Going Dutch

On 1st October a new anti-squatter law comes into effect in the Netherlands, the law will mean squatters could face jail sentences for merely occupying empty buildings. In solidarity with the Dutch squatters we will be hosting workshops, discussions and films around squatting. Followed by live music, bands TBC

In addition to this the centre has a basement rehearsal room, art space, a cinema, a spacious kitchen and a large garden, all of which are free to use and we will be putting on workshops, music, food and more throughout the week.

The Wildkatz is an entirely open project so if anyone wants to put on an event or if any bands are up for performing just email us or pop round.

The address is Home Farmhouse, Stanmer Village, Brighton BN1 9PZ. For more details, including a map of the location, check wildkatzproject.org.uk
