A Santiago court requested that the detainees be held in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison. Surveillance has also been increased on other suspects, in case any further attacks are planned in light of Saturday’s raid.
Police say the investigation has lasted four years. The operation was conducted with the help of analyzing networks, forming contacts, wiretapping and monitoring houses.

Fearful the black-clad grouping was preparing for more mischief, the security guard reported what he observed to the University of Toronto’s Incident Command Center and the Toronto Association of Police and Private Security (TAPPS), a public-private security partnership that operates an online portal for information sharing. Intelligence confirmed that these 75 anarchists planned to target two large financial institutions the next day. Police were dispatched to the scene and arrested 75 suspected anarchists before they could cause further mayhem.
FROM US ‘NEWS’, EVIDENCE OF ‘ENTRAPMENT’, IN RELATION TO A MAN WHO WAS TRICKED IN TO THINKING HE WAS GOING TO BLOW SOMEONE UP, BUT IT WAS A STING:
In August 2009, a confidential source contacted the FBI, describing himself as a former acquaintance of Coors, warning that Coors was dangerous.
So the FBI's Tampa Joint Terrorism Task Force set up a sting.
The investigation culminated when Coors tried to detonate an improvised explosives device he had placed in a victim's car, authorities say.
But the dynamite – which had been furnished by the FBI - was fake.
FROM INDYMEDIA UK, EVIEDENCE OF ‘ILLEGAL’ POLICE OPERATIONS TO SPIE ON PUBLIC MEETINGS, RELATING TO LONDON NOBORDERS CAMPAIGN:
The aim of the public meeting, which took place in a community centre in Southwark, London, was to discuss a demonstration which later took place at the UK Border Agency in Croydon in July 2008. The Metropolitan Police turned up at both public meetings in June 2008, taking photos and filming everybody who attended the meeting.
In a press release, London NoBorders stated, that "The fact that the police could not show that their surveillance was authorised in any way is worrying and shows that the Forward Intelligence Team appears to work outside the law. The purpose of the police presence was clearly to intimidate and keep people from organising around political issues. It also shows that it is important for the future to continue to challenge the Forward Intelligence Team wherever they turn up."

Illegal police surveillance of the Tarnac Ten
Posted on February 28, 2010 by denverabc
Translation of recent article concerning police surveillance of the Tarnac group pre-November 2008. (courtesy of NOT BORED!)
Discovered in the grocery of the group by an agent of France Telecom in March 2008, an illegal listening device installed by the police threatens the consistency of the investigation.
In the investigation into the sabotage of the high-speed train lines, it is a new shadowy zone. The shadow of manipulation, even. Several wiretaps of the telephones of the young people in Tarnac have been, since March 2008, hidden from justice until today. The police forces haven’t said everything there is to say and this opacity, not at all permitted in a legal case, could become one of the crushing arguments from the defense, which addressed to the judge a new Request for Investigative Measures on Monday.
As Le Canard enchaîné has indicated, one of these eavesdropping devices was unintentionally revealed to a co-manager of the grocery store in Tarnac (Corrèze) in April 2008 by an agent of France Telecom. The agent was penalized. Ever since then, the management of France Telecom has retreated into silence. And for good reason. This eavesdropping had been effectuated outside the perimeter of the legal investigation that was opened after the sabotage of the TGV lines in November 2008 and even before the opening of the preliminary inquest on 11 April 2008.
“Beyond the fact that it lends credence to the presumptions about the orchestrated, premeditated and thus political character of the case,” said William Bourdon, attorney for the defense, “the existence of clandestine wiretapping prior to the proceeding [that authorizes it] is sanctioned in a constant manner by jurisprudence.” For example, in the 1990s, illicit eavesdropping caused the complete annulment of the “Schuller-Maréchal” case against the father-in-law of Judge Halphen.
“Connection.” For the moment, only the witnesses can confirm the existence and then the removal of the devices in Tarnac. Located by Libération, Francis M., a technician, followed the case in his capacity as an employee of France Telecom. “The line functioned, but the device caused a weakening of the signal and a problem with the bankcard machine,” he explained. The agent cut out the diversion and re-established the line. Then he called the head of the department who himself alerted the national [police] service that took care of eavesdropping. He [the agent] did so because he’d entered the central switching station with the client. This is what he was reproached for, later on. They sent someone to the target without knowing what was what.”
The bankcard machine at the grocery broke down in mid-March 2008. Banking statements were longer transmitted. One of the co-managers of the store changed the unit, in vain. On the morning of 4 April 2008, he tested the new machine with the agent from France Telecom and then accompanied him to the local switching station.
Questioned by Libération, the grocer recalls, “From what he found in front of the board, he said, ‘OK, there is a connection and it isn’t ours.’ ” The two men ascertained that, while the white and red wires were connected on every other line, there was “a blue wire and a yellow one” that ran from the grocer’s line, in parallel, to a plastic casing. “It’s the police, right?” said the grocer. “Could well be,” responded the technician, who called his superior. “He spoke, repeating certain responses from his boss, and then he said: ‘Alright, so there are three numbers being tapped in Tarnac?’ He asked if he could disconnect it and he said in a loud voice, ‘I disconnect it, like this!’” The bankcard machine started working again.
“We thought about the devices every day,” the union-member continued. “No one knew the who or the why of it. It was one of my colleagues who questioned the devices. He did so regularly via work orders. But the agent who intervened didn’t know the history. Several lines were affected. And the store’s line wasn’t the only one affected.” For the agent, the problems came rapidly. “In the hour that followed, the orders piled up. The regional director summoned the person who had questioned the device, the person who removed it, and the head of the department. Patrick Coat, the Regional Director, left for Paris the next day.” The “guilty” agent was reprimanded and suspended for 15 days. For his part, Patrick Coat was summoned by the Minister of the Interior.
The wiretapping at Tarnac was set in motion by the ad hoc service of France Telecom, located in Montrouge (Hauts-de-Seine), which receives requests for judicial and administrative wiretaps.
The lawyers for the Tarnac group have requested from the telecommunications company “the history of the technical interventions on the lines” of the grocery for the year 2008. It responded that “2008 data” for this number is “no longer consultable.” On 2 February [2010], the lawyers appeared before the Commission for Access to Administrative Documents. This week they will interrogate the National Commission for the Supervision of Security Interceptions, which regularly reviews the “administrative” wiretaps executed by the Inter-Ministry Grouping for Supervision at the request of the special services.
Maneuver. The interruption of the eavesdropping of Tarnac on 4 April 2008 provoked the precipitous opening of a preliminary investigation of Julien Coupat and his friends. On 11 April, the anti-terrorist police (the SDAT) wrote to the Attorney General of the Republic to reveal to him the existence of a “clandestine structure” making use of “several logistical bases,” notably in Tarnac. Without speaking of the wiretaps, the SDAT evoked “intelligence” emanating from the Central Directorate of General Intelligence (DCRG). One could deduce from this that the current Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence (the DCRI, a fusion of the Directorate for the Security of the Territory and the DCRG) was in on it, as Bernard Squarcini, its director, has admitted. “The DCRI had been surveilling these individuals for a long time,” he said in Point, March 2009.
In August 2008, four months after the removal of the secret devices, the number of the grocery in Tarnac was the target of an official demand for a wiretap. Authorized by a judge, this wiretap would be extended three times until November 2008. But it never yielded any information about the “violent actions” that were attributed to the Tarnac group.

FROM AMERICAN ‘PRESS’, EVIDENCE OF POLICE ‘PRE-RIOT’ PLANNING AND TRAINING USING VARIOUS RESOURCES, IN RELATION TO SUPPRESSING OUTRAGE OVER THE POLCIE KILLING OF AN UNARMED MAN:
Jury deliberations are expected to begin Friday in the trial of Mr. Mehserle, who is accused of murdering Mr. Grant, shooting him in the back as he lay facedown on the platform shortly after midnight. Mr. Mehserle testified that he had accidentally reached for his Sig Sauer P226 pistol instead of his Taser. The trial was moved to Los Angeles.
After amateur videos of the shooting became public last year, protesters spilled into downtown Oakland. Their rage spiraled into violence, resulting in damaged businesses, burned and overturned police vehicles and more than 100 arrests.
In recent weeks, the Oakland police organized mock-riot exercises involving more than 450 officers from 20 law enforcement agencies, including the California Highway Patrol and the Napa and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Departments. Those agencies will be on standby after the verdict, Oakland officials say.
FROM CANADIAN ‘PRESS, EVIDENCE OF SUSTAINED AND ‘UNJUSTIFIED’ SPYING ON ANARCHIST GROUPS:
For the second year, Hamilton police have included a reference to anarchy in an annual report on hate crimes. It refers to the "local anarchist movement" then notes the Anarchist Book Fair and "anarchist graffiti/anti-police graffiti observed in Hamilton."
Detective Brian Ritchie, who wrote the report, says he can't think of any instance when anarchists have caused trouble for Hamilton police.
"We're not targeting anybody," he says. "But we do have to take a look at these issues."
ALSO FROM SAME CASE:
It is reported that police across Canada gathered intelligence on potential G20 disrupters. Leading up to the summit, several members of Common Cause were approached in Hamilton by RCMP.
Hopperton was arrested after an agent of the police infiltrated the Southern Ontario Anarchist Resistance, which once had a web post instructing followers to "gather in the secret, quiet places, and discuss with our trusted buddies what would excite and inspire us."
From Canadian ‘press’, 2010 evidence of police infiltration of ‘activist community’ for two years prior to the action that undercovers helped secure arrests for;
OTTAWA - The assistance of an undercover cop drew police, within a few hours, to the men charged with firebombing a Glebe bank in May.
The officer had infiltrated the Ottawa activist community, attending protests and making friends to gather intelligence, about two years prior to the May 18 attack on the Royal Bank at First Ave. and Bank St.
Sources have told the Sun the undercover officer was not involved with torching the bank, which is still boarded up.
ALSO FROM SAME CASE:
The three men are part of the same activist crowd the undercover officer embedded himself in after he was brought in from an out-of-town police service to gather information leading up to the recent G8 and G20 summits in Toronto and Huntsville.
ALSO FROM SAME CASE:
Police investigating the May 18 firebombing of a Glebe bank used an undercover officer to infiltrate an Ottawa anarchist group and, with his help, were able to track the suspects and their getaway car within hours of the "domestic terrorism" plot.
The undercover officer had no knowledge of the firebombing but had, over two years of undercover work, won the friendship of the suspects.
The group, Fight for Freedom Coalition-Ottawa, targeted the Royal Bank of Canada because it was a sponsor of the Vancouver Olympics.
A joint task force probing the May firebombing leaned on an elite Ontario Provincial Police intelligence unit to set up surveillance within three hours of the explosion. The undercover officer's work provided Ottawa police and RCMP with an insider's perspective on the group and helped them establish immediate surveillance, which led them to key evidence in the case.
FROM THE GUARDIAN NEWSPAPER, UK, 2010, EVIDENCE OF COMPLICITY IN ‘EXTRAORDINARY RENDITITON’ BY TONY BLAIR AND/OR HIS CRONIES IN HIS OFFICE:
Evidence that the British government plotted to have a number of UK citizens sent from Afghanistan to Guantánamo Bay after the al-Qaida attacks of September 2001 has emerged in previously classified documents handed to lawyers representing victims of extraordinary rendition.
The documents show that Tony Blair's office intervened to thwart Foreign Office efforts to secure the release of a British Muslim detained in Zambia, with the result that he too was sent unlawfully to the American detention centre on Cuba.

The investigation into the July 2 blast has been handed over to what is known as an integrated national security enforcement team, the RCMP said Thursday.
The integrated teams include members of the RCMP, local police forces and federal law enforcements agencies. They were set up in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver to facilitate a more co-ordinated approach to investigating national security cases.
An RCMP spokeswoman said police will attempt to identify and arrest members of the little known anti-globalization, anti-war group that claimed responsibility for the attack.

The fire was discovered by a security officer making routine rounds at the Santa Cruz City Hall complex. A recycling container had been set next to the front door of the business and ignited. The fire burned through the front door and caused over $50,000 in damages.
Police says that Balderos could be seen in the video starting the fire and that in the past he has claimed affiliation as an anarchist and anti-government movements, as well as camping-ban activists.
This attack follows on the heels of vandalism to the office on Monday June 28 where graffiti was spray painted on the property denouncing the camping ban and anarchist symbols.
The Santa Cruz Police Department is working with the FBI to examine any link in this case to other attacks involving domestic terrorism.

Ottawa Police announced the arrest of three Ottawa men in connection with the sensational firebombing of a Royal Bank branch in the Glebe on May 18.
Police indicated during the Saturday morning press conference that their investigation into the matter was continuing and they would not rule out further charges including the possibility that the three men could be charged with terrorism.
The men are now in custody awaiting a bail hearing next Friday.
The three appeared in Ottawa court Satuday morning. Ottawa lawyer Lawrence Greenspon, who recently defended the convicted terrorist Momin Khawaja, acted on behalf of the three accused.
The charges flow from a 30-day investigation led by Ottawa Police Arson and Major Crime Units and supported by Ontario Provincial Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (three police forces for one arson!!).
Police say that the investigation found the suspects had used a combination of an accelerant and an improvised explosive device to set the lobby of the bank on fire causing more than $500,000 in damage.
Also from same case, evidence of police noticing/noting ‘progression of group activity’:
“The accused are alleged members of an obscure activist group known as the Fighting For Freedom Coalition – or FFFC-Ottawa – which had also promised to protest the coming global summits.
The suspects are also accused of attacking bank machines with rocks and hammers last February. The alleged progression from hammers to a firebomb to the discovery of bullets has alarmed police.”

Amir, who was primarily used in the initial stages of the operation, was described as "freelance, employed occasionally" and "paid a daily fee when required".

The entrapment and enticement and ‘set-up’ of activist wishing to participate in protests over various issues (NAFTA/WTO/ World Bank et al). The police arranged for posters to be displayed in an area where they knew the activist – to be called X – lived and worked and hung around. The posters said ‘come along and get involved in anti-SUCH AND SUCH’ demonstrations (which were genuinely coming up and were well known to certain circles). X was satisfied the posters represented a ‘proper’ activist/grass roots campaign to be present and active at the due protests, so went along to planning meetings and became active in the planning of ‘events’ that were agreed would take place, including direct action and civil disobedience. X was then arrested and charged with conspiracy, having been the sole target of the operation. (outcome of trail not known at this moment, circa 2000/2002)

From Canadian ‘press’, 2010 evidence of police infiltration of ‘activist community’ for two years prior to the action that undercovers helped secure arrests for;
OTTAWA - The assistance of an undercover cop drew police, within a few hours, to the men charged with firebombing a Glebe bank in May.

FROM ‘PRESS’, 2010, ABOUT POLICE INVESTIGATING SO CALLED ‘TERRORIST ACTS’:

FROM BBC NEWS, ABOUT TRIAL OF IRA SUSPECTS, 2010.
Amir, who was primarily used in the initial stages of the operation, was described as "freelance, employed occasionally" and "paid a daily fee when required".
His role was to play the role of someone who was prepared to sell cheap but genuine cigarettes and other items like laptops and clothes.
When he "bumped into" another defendant he first offered him cheap cigarettes before quickly moving the conversation on to the possibility of selling him weapons.
The defendant's lawyer, Orlando Pownall QC, successfully argued that this was entrapment and his client was cleared.
