Report of TP Summer Gathering

[Trident Ploughshares is a campaign to disarm the UK Trident nuclear weapons system in a non-violent, open, peaceful and fully accountable manner. AWE Aldermaston is Britain's nuclear bomb factory, near Reading in Berkshire.]
During the Gathering we learnt a great deal of old and new information about AWE Aldermaston, Burfield and the Convoys that sometimes pass through the A34 including the Oxford bypass; with films and power-point presentations.
We stayed in a Reading church as there are only small places suitable for camping near AWE Aldermaston itself.
We had a sparkling guided tour of the perimeter by one of our number who has climbed the fences more times than anyone else and could tell us a lot about what takes place at Aldermaston
.
We also gave out leaflets in towns and villages about the proposed Hydrus Project which is waiting for planning permission. See:
http://nuclearinfo.org/view/nuclear_sites/AWE_Aldermaston/a2087
for an explanation of this expensive and dangerous proposed new facility.
Monday action:

We were pleased to blockade Boilerhouse Gate for two hours - it only opens at peak times.
