The Mathew Street Festival in Liverpool is the biggest FREE festival in the UK

The Mathew Street Festival in Liverpool is the biggest FREE festival in the UK, and beyond into Europe. So why have so many people never heard about it?

You won't find highlights or anything else on BBC television, MTV or anywhere else. Maybe they don't like the idea of a FREE festival, or maybe they don't like the idea of it being held in Liverpool.

People come to Liverpool from all over the world for the festival. What an opportunity :)

Yes sure they came from all over- to get their dose of beatles nostalgia amid Tesco's pilled high with booze for the day, cops hassling revellers on every corner- drink at the stage not in the shopping mall- just 6 feet apart, wall to wall tribute bands- Too Rex, Roxy Magic- and on and on and on- some lads playing Skiffle on the corner of Mathew street get hassled to leave by the cops- weren't the beatles a skiffle band at first- yeh sure but that was then this is now- a marketing platform for Liverpool one shopping mall- and no stage at the Pier head- no- well it's private you see- taxpayer can spend 22 mill on a shite canal though- what a load of corporate shite!

Tribute acts....

Thousands of people went along to get drunk and watch a load of so-so tribute acts. It's hardly an amazing cultural event we should be getting over-excited about.
