Support Gaza protester in Court of Appeal – Tuesday 24 August

Gaza Demonstrators Support Campaign | 18.08.2010 21:32 | Palestine | Repression

Demonstrate outside the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London WC2A 2LL

Tuesday 24 August, 9am onwards (Martin’s appeal against the length of his sentence is listed for 10.30am

On 28 May 2010 Martin Askew was sentenced to 18 months in prison for showing his contempt towards the Israeli siege on Gaza in December 2008-January 2009, which killed over 1400 people including 400 children and reduced large areas of the already devastated Gaza to rubble. Martin hurt no one in his actions and was in fact himself brutally attacked by the police, leaving him needing 70 stitches to his head.

Martin is one of over 20 people imprisoned for participating in the London protests against the attack on Gaza. It is a huge injustice that such compassionate and conscientious people are in jail for showing support for a people who are living in a state of constant brutal oppression.
