BBC - the ultimate prostitutes of propaganda.

Ken O' Keefe (repost) | 17.08.2010 08:06 | Flotilla to Gaza | Anti-militarism | Other Press | Palestine

If you haven’t seen it, look for BBC Panorama’s “Death in the Med” program online, you will be treated to first class propaganda as only the BBC can deliver. [1]

I am one of the passengers/witnesses interviewed for this program and I am very much aware of BBC’s role in justifying war and covering up Israeli crimes. I am in no way naive about this; to the contrary my motivation for the interview lay largely in the all too likely opportunity to expose the BBC. A relevant job considering the BBC’s role in the slaughter of over one million Iraqi’s, a direct role by virtue of the war they justified. BBC from start to present, justifying Iraq, a massive war crime and crime against humanity based entirely on lies (propagated intensely by the BBC). The British Broadcasting Corporation, synonymous with millions of orphans and refugees and countless lives destroyed in Iraq, beating the drums of war without pause, the ultimate prostitutes of propaganda.

Ken O'Keefe interviewed by Jane Corbin of BBC Panorama

With this understanding I solicited an agreement with the BBC producers, in return for my interview the program would include the fact that we disarmed, captured and ultimately released three Israeli commandos (after giving them medical attention no less). That was the deal, a deal I made with an audio recorder in service. (linked audio)

And yes the poor Israeli commandos were beaten, just as any invader in any capable persons home would be beaten. I take no issue with that fact.

But truth be told, the commandos we captured should thank us for their lives. I ask the Israeli’s, British and American people specifically, if your home was invaded, your family being murdered, would you be willing to disarm, completely control, and then set a murderer of your family free???

You can lie to yourself if you like, bury that head right down deep in the sand, but that ship was our home, and we were all brothers and sisters, aunties and uncles, united, a family, engaged in a most righteous cause, with the vast majority of the planet behind us. The primary beneficiary of our mission, over 800,000 innocent children.

For those lost in a pit of ignorance and indoctrination, those currently stripped of all reason, absent of conscience, duped and hoodwinked, I know you very well because I was once you, a US Marine robot volunteering to kill or be killed. I see my past self in the Zionist who has no capacity at this moment to think, for in that state it is all about regurgitation, independent thought is but a possibility. For you I maintain no hate, for nobody actually, rather it is pity, pity for you that you sacrifice the greatest gift of all, the gift of humanity.

And so it is that the BBC, absent of integrity, contemptuous of humanity, attempts in this program to turn disarmed, helpless Israeli commandos into heroic self-rescuing commandos who managed to Superman their way out of a circle of well over 100 very motivated men whose brothers lay murdered with multiple gunshot wounds. That is what we call a bald-faced lie. Big time lie, in your face lie, you in the audience are a bunch of drooling idiots lie.

Returning from the Zionist alternate universe, we held in our power the fate of three boy commandos who may well have been murderers on that night. Think about that, under these circumstances, we let them go. That is what we call preserving life.

It is not that BBC does not know the truth, there are literally hundreds of witnesses and overflowing facts to reveal it; it is simply BBC’s slavish duty to produce a Zionist storyline of illusions and deceptions. And the story goes that we are the aggressors, “terrorists”, “extremists” and killers. Only in this context can the poor Israeli commandos be victims. How is it possible to dominate and control commandos simply to let them go if we are killers? Answer, it isn’t. And that is precisely why Panorama blatantly lied.

Ah but the irony, the kind of irony that always provides me a smile from the inside out, the irony of these lies being big, beautiful gifts. In all sincerity, thank you BBC.

The BBC says there is doubt as to who fired first. There is no doubt at all who shot who and when to the hundreds of us on the Mavi Marmara and other ships. The Israelis have said we shot at them, well where are their gunshot wounds? And even if you have gunshot wounds, how do we know you did not shoot yourselves? Exactly like you did in “Operation Cast Lead”?

Returning once again from the Zionist alternate universe, the Israeli military attacked in international waters and murdered within the first five minutes of the attack. The attack resulting in scores of gunshot wounds and death in rapid succession. Blood spilling all over the ship. In that environment I took possession of a 9mm pistol that I removed from one of the commandos… and I emptied it of the (real) bullets. Other weapons were seized by other brothers and thrown into the sea, one of which was an assault rifle. Yet when others and myself had the power to end life, and believe me it was as simple as release the safety, point, shoot, over. Instead we preserved life, by taking those weapons away from established killers, we prevented them from killing more. We literally saved our lives and their lives. That is what we call cold, hard facts.

We could have taken out at least three of them, but we did not. Nope, we let them go.

The BBC mentions that we were in international waters at the very end of the story, as if this were an insignificant fact. The fact that Israel stole all the footage that it could, footage that undoubtedly shows them firing 4 bullets to the head of the 19-year-old American passenger, Furkan Dogan. No problem. Executing people at close range, no worries. The fact that the blockade itself is illegal, nah, don’t mention that. 800,000 plus children in Gaza, malnourished, anemic, traumatised… not important.

I would need to review this program many times over to identify every poisoned tactic that the BBC employed in order to do what they do so well, justify murder and war.

Nevertheless BBC’s perversion of the truth will elevate the cause of justice immensely, delegitimizing itself in such grand fashion was indeed a great big gift.

Hats off to ya BBC!

Take action

17.08.2010 08:31

Just got this below from Kamil, an activist based in the UK. Briefly, anyone who missed the BBC Panorama documentary on the Freedom Flotilla attack tonight should catch it on the bbc website, its
just 30mins. I just watched it and it was sickening.

Jane Corbin and her team reduced the Israeli navy's violent attack on six ships down to the attack on the Mavi Marmara. It was clearly the worst attacked, but by singling it out as an exception/provocation and ignoring the fact that each ship was extremely violently attacked by Israeli commandos who fired fired as they boarded and passengers from each ship put up resistance, served to split and isolate activists on the Marmara from the rest of the movement.

The Freedom Flotilla was reduced to a 'Turkish' one-boat show and an 'Islamist' one (the whole tone and framing is utterly islamophobic and racist and demonising of muslim activists) with IHHcast as a 'terrorist' group in tone and insinuation ignoring the facts about the organisation and that the whole flotilla that was made up of a coalition of groups and representative of a diverse and unapologetically political - solidarity NOT charity focused - movement).

The BBC's 'scoop' is apparently that the flotilla was not a charity aid mission but a political action - obviously ignoring the whole politics of the solidarity movement which were clear from the start and opting, solidly, throughout, to tow the Israeli govt propaganda line.

Israeli propaganda including the 'go back to auschwitz' recordings which are clearly false - I heard everything myself in the wheelhouse of the challenger 1, we had every channel open - and which have been
discredited were reported by the BBC as fact, along with claims that
activists shot commandos.

New depths have been sunken to with this documentary, really people need to get out and complain about this appalling whitewash of Israeli crimes masquerading as 'journalism'.

This is from kamil:

If you have just watched Panorama on the Mavi Marmara, please complain
in the strongest terms to the BBC about outrageous Israeli propaganda
being passed as investigative journalism. Please also circulate this.

You can still watch the disgusting programme on:

The programme gives none of the real Gaza background: the prison camp
reality, the extent of the blockade, the humanitarian catastrophe,
continuing incursions, the huge destruction of the last invasion, the
fact of occupation of Palestinian land, etc. Instead, it says there is
no shortage of food and medicine and shows construction going, albeit
with some difficulty and none of the rubble of Israeli destruction. It
repeats the talk about Hamas not recognising Israel and thousands of
rockets fired at apparently peaceful Israel.

The Israelis are given most of the programme time to tell their story
and their claims are not challenged, while the people on the Mavi
Marmara are subjected to an inquisition rather than asked for their
story. Simple facts such as people being shot in the back and shot
repeatedly are not given. The huge number of casualties is just reported and not questioned. Israel's alternatives in stopping the ships are not considered. Israeli surveillance and prior knowledge of readiness to obstruct the takeover are not considered, leaving the claims of Israeli spokepeople unchallenged and the premeditated nature of the massacr ignored. The illegality of the Israeli piracy is not even mentioned and the BBC simply claimed that Israel is co-operating with a UN investigation, ignoring the fact that they have sought to prevent it for so long. Israeli allegations of "terrorism" coming from the ship and IHH's alleged terrorist links are given BBC credence (for what it is worth). The whole tone is also disgusting.

Please pass this on and ask all to complain.

To be really truthful

17.08.2010 09:52

The programme shows footage of a group of Muslim men cutting up the ship's railings to use as weapons, and a leader of their particular group (representatives of the Muslim charity IHH) before the trip inciting them to fight the Israelis. He didn't deny that he meant it when he was interviewed. According to the programme, these Muslim men did not consult any of the other passengers/campaigners about what they intended to do. Unless they called a general meeting beforehand to explain what they intended and why, then I would say they recklessly put other people at risk. Without knowing what was likely to go down, nobody else would have had the choice of whether to arm themselves and join in, or take cover and stay safe. Or even, to vote them down and prevent them from taking violent measures if it was going to put other people at risk.

To put other people at risk of being killed without consulting them about what you intend is immoral. Sorry, mate, but your 'brothers' had no right to do that.

The programme does mention somewhere in the middle that the Israelis tried to board the boat while it was in international waters, not just at the end.

And it does ask why, having been prevented from boarding from a small boat, because they were getting objects thrown and fire hoses turned on them, the Israelis then tried to board one by one from a helicopter, instead of having a rethink. That was pretty damn stupid. They were bound to get picked off one by one as they landed on the deck one by one.

The programme does say that some of the campaigners wanted to treat the injured Israeli soldiers, but that some wanted to kill them. This is plausible in the circumstances, people were bound to be enraged and vengeful.

But saying that the soldiers then jumped into the water and got picked up by an Israeli boat doesn't sound plausible. How did they manage that if they were injured? If it's true that they did that, their injuries must have been slight.

What's really wrong with this programme is that it is only half an hour long and that isn't enough airtime for a good investigation. It didn't interview any of the ship's crew, or more than four of the passengers. It leaves out too much and doesn't ask pertinent questions. How much footage did the Israelis confiscate from journalists on the ship, and what does it show? If they think they are in the right, why don't they hand it back? The footage they gave the BBC (some of which has already featured on Youtube) is difficult to interpret because it is taken from far above and is in indistinct white and grey tones. The presenter showed snatches of it, but did not have time to look at it closely and analyse what it's supposed to show. And she fails to address one glaring fact, which is not in dispute: nine passengers got killed, but no Israeli military people. Does that sound like the passengers seriously used guns against the Israelis? No, it suggests the shooting was coming from one side only. The question is not, who fired first, but how can the Israelis justify shooting unarmed civilians?

You were bound to know when you gave an interview to the BBC that they would present their own weaselly progandist take on the subject. But you must also know that a charity (IHH) that appears to attract jihadists is not going to fit well, to a non-Muslim journalist, with the idea of a humanitarian aid project. She's not going to understand the combination of charity and politics.

Panorama, a blind vista.

17.08.2010 10:00

Thanks for posting this.

I watched last nights Panorama but unlike you Ken I started with the notion that I should expect it to be mostly rubbish. The BBC have attempted, poorly, to cobble together some kind of explanation about what went on that night and then attempted to present it as a scoop. Its no such thing.

What it is, is a very slack attempt to explain away the fact that the BBC were not on any vessel inside the Flotilla. It had no presence at all. It had no presence because nowhere in this world is the BBC a trusted source of news.

What you had in this documentary last night was a clear attempt to re-position public opinion. At the very end of this program the hapless Jane Corbyn, standing next to the aid in the form of pallets of medicines declared the she had examined all of the aid and found two thirds of the boxes to be out of date and therefore useless. She then leapt from that to the Flotilla being a political act and not a mercy mission.

The identity of the IDF soldiers had been protected, they should not have been. The BBC has no reason or cause to protect the identity of foreign soldiers. None at all.

The BBC lives in a fantasy world of delusion, stupidity and incompetence. Their reporters and editorial staff don't know what they are doing for the most part. Jeremy Vine is a Newsnight failure scratching around for titbits to do. Jane Corbyn similarly not up to much.

I would imagine that someone a bit higher up at the BBC is fuming that they had no access to the Mavi Mamara and have helped cobble together this rubbish in the vain hope that it might somehow crowbar them onto any future flotilla's.

Well done Keith and the brave activists of the IHH for once again exposing the robotic and thoroughly mindless machine that is collectively punishing the people of Gaza.

Break the siege of Gaza. End the blockade.

The Director General of the BBC, Mark Thompson, is a Zionist sympathiser who was placed in his position of control after the BBC broadcast the truth about the official lies being peddled to us in the run up to the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq.

What does anyone expect of BBC news & current affairs under the control of this person and his masters.

Pro-Israeli BBC propaganda - list of problems with this Panorama documentary

18.08.2010 16:18

why was this comment I sent here yesturday hidden? There is nothing factually incorrect, nothing offensive in my writing, nor have I associated myself with any hierachical group (u kw, how IMC mods operate):

Pro-Israeli BBC propaganda - list of problems with this Panorama documentary

17.08.2010 13:56
Zak Isbak, here are the facts about the woefully shoddy, pro-Israeli biased Panorama documentary broadcast on BBC1 yesturday evening (Monday 16th Aug 2010):
- the Panorama documentary inexplicably merely mentions that the flotilla was in international waters, as if this were an insignificant fact. The fact that Israeli commandos then raided and seized the Gaza-bound ships in international waters within the Mediterranean Sea should have been given greater emphasis and explored in more depth, not merely mentioned as an after-thought in the middle and again at the end of the documentary. Most significantly, the illegality of this is not referred to at-all by Corbyn and the Panorama producers, which is a major ommission of frankly breathtaking intransigence to a honest portrayal of the facts which have been widely reported and commented upon across the international media.
- Jane Corbyn's documentary didn't interview any of the ship's crew, or more than four of the passengers, whilst Israelis have been given time to tell their story throughout most of the programme and their claims are not challenged.
- Simple facts such as people being shot in the back and shot repeatedly are not given.
- Corbyn chose not to refer at-all to how much footage the Israelis confiscated from journalists on the ship, and so, did not question this nor what this footage showed.
- Israel's alternatives in stopping the ships are not considered. Israeli surveillance and prior knowledge of readiness to obstruct the takeover are not considered, leaving the claims of Israeli spokepeople unchallenged and the premeditated nature of the massacre ignored.
- Finally, in terms of essential background to the story which should have been accurately protrayed, the programme gives none of the real Gaza background: the humanitarian catastrophe and the extent of the blockade, the prison camp reality, continuing incursions, the huge destruction of the last invasion, etc. Instead, it says there is no shortage of food and medicine and shows construction going on, albeit with some difficulty and none of the rubble of Israeli destruction. In other words, it inexplicably understates the situation in Gaza.

All of these major ommissions from the Panorama broadcast of Monday 16th August 2010 highlighted above indicate a very partial and biased reporting of the events of the 31st May 2010 off the Gaza coast, giving the appearance that Panorama have sought to exonerate Israel from any blame in this regrettable incident.

Questions

18.08.2010 19:15

I am not sure that I would want to support this kind of action. However a few questions in my mind...
What did the Israelis threaten to do - use lethal or non-lethal force if anyone tried to break the blockade?
What have the Israelis actually done in the past - use lethal or non-lethal force if anyone tried to break the blockade?
I think if the answer to either of those two questions is lethal force then that would show what those on the ships might have been expecting.
A more rhetorical question - what did the Israelis do to the people of Gaza (kill over a thousand of them and therefore show likely reaction to blockade-busting ships)...
Perhaps the organizers of the ships can answer the question about out-of-date medical supplies...

Other points. The BBC were clearly biased in favour of Israel, which is apparently being constantly bombarded - and Gaza was not!? Saying that the people are not starving does not address other needs like possible malnutrition, medical or indeed any other needs. No proof provided for claimed terrorist links. Much was invested in the outcome of the Israeli's own potentially biased investigations, but was the possibility of an independent investigation even mentioned during the programme?

Lord Reith who founded the BBC was Pro Nazi

21.05.2012 01:12

Lord Reith who founded the BBC was Pro Nazi - so much so that he had to be removed as DG in 1938 because he would not allow Churchill's voice on the air.
After the July 1934 Night of The Long Knives, in which the Nazis ruthlessly exterminated their internal dissidents, Reith wrote: “I really admire the way Hitler has cleaned up what looked like an incipient revolt.”
After Czechoslovakia was invaded by the Nazis in 1939 he wrote: “Hitler continues his magnificent efficiency.”
Reith also expressed admiration for Mussolini.
