Bristolian takes play to Edinburgh

An Alright Wedding - hopefully not just an Alright play!
After recently working in Bristol, carrying out various temporary assignments, I have scrimped and saved enough money to drag my once office chair bound behind to Edinburgh, in the hope that I will fulfill my ambition, as well as, not horrify but, hopefully, somewhat entertain an audience every night for eight nights.
My name is Vicki Helyar and I have written and directed a play which will debut at the Edinburgh festival on the 22-29 August entitled 'An Alright Wedding', which will be performed by myself and Dutch actress and presenter Tamar Tieleman.
The play is based on an impromtu and unconventional conversation between a bride and a waitress, which takes place at the evening party of the bride's wedding and which goes on to cover all manner of topics, to the significant to the very in-significant. The piece is a lighthearted one which has heart at it's core, whilst maintaining a quirky tone throughout.
I have never been to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before, and to say I'm nervous doesn't quite do it justice. I hear it is a wonderful and strange experience, one which I am looking forward to, as much as dreading. Many actors and comics who have previously performed at the Festival often comment on how it is the best and worst venue they have ever performed in. Either way, I know it will be a memorable experience - whether that will be a good or bad experience I am, at this stage, unable to say. But if any fellow Bristolians are taking a trip up to the Festival around the 22nd-29th August, come and see me at the Edinburgh City Football Club at 9.45pm - I would love to see you.
Oh well, here it goes, I suppose.....
"Some things are good (Gary Oldman, Dracula). Some things are bad (Keanu Reeves, Dracula). Some things are just alright (Winona Ryder, Dracula). Tamara the Bride knows which she would rather not be."
