Ian Tomlinson Family Campaign Launch of Campaign Fighting Fund

Many, many thanks for the hundreds of e-mails and messages of support sent to the campaign yesterday. We can't possibly respond to them individually but it is really important to Ian's family to know that they have so many people supporting them.



Many have asked if there is anything more they can do and today, we are launching a Campaign Fighting Fund. There is still long road ahead in the fight for justice and the Fund will help the Tomlinson family to make decisions about the direction of the campaign without always having to worry about the financial costs, especially when the emotional ones are tough enough already.

Accountability

I am intending to support the Tomlinsons, I believe that they deserve justice, that the criminal who committed this act of manslaughter be convicted as such and that the chain of command who authorised the removal of ID numbers, masking up of officer representatives, and those who declared a "summer of rage" be brought to justice and held to account for their acts and decisions.

My sole concern is the accountability regarding what happens to my hard-earned money ... how do I know that this is going to be put to good use for launching a case against Simon Harwood and the State machinery that authorised Harwood rather than simply into the pockets of legal beagles or other unaccountable bodies' pockets?

I don't mean to be crass, but I'd like to know that the money I divert from my own family's welfare isn't going astray.

Assurances please that this isn't just some left wing Labour group leaching off this campaign.
