Declaration of Non-Cooperation
Parliament Square Gardens
Saturday 17th July 2010
Democracy Village
“We call on all citizens of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland to hereby withdraw support to the British government whilst it engages in actions that are destroying peoples and the planet.
Even if you are opposed to the activities of the government, it is evident that if you co-operate with it by working in a role related to it’s harmful actions, or if you are paying taxes to it which are being used to carry out harmful deeds then willingly or unwillingly you are assisting in those activities.
However, it is possible for you to withdraw your cooperation. By doing so, you will be removing yourself from the moral implications of assisting indefensible behaviour and you will retain your dignity.
We hold that only when individuals realise their own moral responsibility to withdraw their support to immoral behaviour, can we achieve a better government which reflects justice in it’s actions.
We recognise the significant impact that withdrawing support will have on the lives of many, however all major change requires a degree of sacrifice and courage, and should you choose to withdraw your support you will no longer be part of the problem, but part of the solution to peaceful change on this planet.
Here are some ways you can withdraw your support.
* Go on tax strike. )
Whether you want to come to continue the call for the troops to be immediately withdrawn from Afghanistan, or have other issues you would like to discuss or campaign about, please come along to this event and spread the word amongst your friends.
This is an event for all ages. Hope to see you there.
