cuts protest in liverpool

johno | 16.06.2010 15:55 | Liverpool

a demonstration agaist the proposed cuts in the councils budget at the town hall on 22nd june
before this a march of three colleges and university groups is taking place on the 19th.

the "right to work campaign" in liverpool, yes it was news to mean that there was one, have called for the widest possible protest on june the 22nd outside the town hall at 5pm.
so rattles snakes drums noise and other racket inducing items should be there as well as throaty shouters.
the reason for the revolt is to coincide with national proposals of georgey boy osbournes crisis budget. obdr qrxl5 or something office.

a wide range of groups and trade unions are expected according to the leaflet, now circulating.
sadly however at the same time on the same day a march for jobs at the opposite end of the street near derby square as been called by the
youth for jobs campaign
these are going to clash no side is giving an each to the other before e real fight develops in liverpool a broad principled regroupment of forces is essential otherwise we will have fratricidal warfare and no effective opposition mounted to the threts to jobs and services
both groups campaigning on the same issues and are expecting the turnout
local unemployed groups and activists from everywhere campaigning to oppose the effect of these widesweeping cuts, will benefit from solidarity action against the labour council who will be implementing these decisions but blaming national government as usual.
a serious discussion on the need for unity to combat these and future cuts needs to be had urgently.

"right to work"

16.06.2010 16:56

or dose that mean "society owes us a living".
All public sector workers, form the working class to the very posh are payed for out of stolen money. I would have no say in what this public sector elite do with their time and my money. All are paid more than me. Yes I earn less money than a council litter picker, less than minimum wage. Yet I get demands for money with threats of violence because I have the space to live and work. I refuse to claim any sort of state benefit what so ever, not even council tax benefit. That's benefit from them to pay themselves, money which they fraudulently claim I owe them. I will not provide "proof of earnings" to public sector workers because it's non of their business and I want nothing from them. I don't use any public services what so ever, the services I do use I pay for directly.

And let's remember that the public sector dose not just mean the caring professions like social workers and nurses it also means violent police tax enforcers and the military. You can't have one without the other. Remember you have no say!

My responsibilities are to my self, my family and my community. I have no interest in being part of your society. To me "Society" is some remote hierarchical government controlled network of self serving institutions who claim to have a "right to work" for me wether I like it or not.

So sorry people, I won't be marching with you on this one;)

dont worry

we dont need or want you anyway

you can thrive or starve on the outside so long as you dont stand in our way and we may still pick you up if you fall even if you didnt ask or contribute

Stand in your way, I'll certainly do my best to,

stand in the way of your violent taxation, your armies of pen pushers, baton thrashing gun toting police men and nuclear missiles. These are the choices "society" has made wether you like it of not. If you support "society" this is what you are supporting. You either opt in and support the hierarchical tyranny, or you opt out completely and build a community from scratch. If we all rely on "society" to provide us with a job our communities become weak, and the hierarchical system of "society" takes over.

Society has never been a democracy and never will be.

If you are marching for jobs, you are appealing to "the powers that be" to be kind to you, rather than taking the power of independence for yourselves.

Trots?

These marches tend to be just another opportunity for the SWP and the rest of the Trot left to sell their crap newspapers. The libertarian left needs to start making its presence felt and promote anti-authoritarian direct action and non-hierarchical forms of organising. Too many movements and campaigns just wither away due to the self-congratulatory opportunism of the Marxists who lead them.

Things have changed

Things have changed and they still are changing. If you can't see that you're probably some dead-head hippy or anarchist/marxist desperately clinging on to the past. That's your problem not mine.

What annoys me is that the old farts still think their solutions are valid now. That was then, this is now, and if we need to break your hands to remove you from the gears of power so be it.
