democracy village news and call-out

[London] | 10.06.2010 00:22 | London

the parliament square democracy village faces a new eviction hearing date at the high court starting on monday 14th june at 10.30 the case is expected to last several days. villagers are also calling out for help from other activists as this protest goes from strength to strength and establishes its credentials as a fresh and exciting direction for the peace movement.

lawyers from bindmans, and barristers representing various parties at parliament square, have persuaded the high court judges that several days will be required to hear all the arguments relating to the GLA's attempt to evict the democracy village with a possession order. there are several robust lines of defence and the judge has agreed they should all be heard.

the court hearings will begin on monday the 14th at the high court in the strand, and is open to members of the public to come and witness and support the legal case.

the democracy village made camp in parliament square on mayday and has defied all expectations, lasting through the state opening of parliament and defying david cameron's promise to do something about the 'shambles' in parliament square.

over the past five and a half weeks, the village has established a kitchen, toilets, meeting space, garden, oak tree, tripod, and the residents have festooned parliament square with huge banners calling for the end to military involvement in afghanistan.

it has received wide media attention, with bbc, world media and national papers all running articles on the camp including interviews with some of the people involved where they have been able to eloquently put the case for their views. don't forget that the recall of troops from afghanistan is widely supported by the british public in opinion polls, and so the democracy village camp represents the views of the general population more accurately than the horse-traded coalition government that seized power.

the camp is not without its issues. due to its position and open plan, it attracts some visitors with baggage and problems, and as a radical community it is faced with difficulties in how to include disruptive personalities in its open planning and review meetings, but despite these difficulties the camp has been the launch site of many effective direct actions, and has managed to pull together a very serious legal challenge against plans to remove it.

one exciting aspect of the camp is the number of new and younger activists involved. the radical community has been hoping to involve and attract new faces for some time now, and that is clearly beginning to happen.

but the villagers feel now is the time for the peace movement to seize a real opportunity to push seriously for an end to the afghanistan war, and they are calling out for help from the wider and more established activist network to come and help build on this excellent start. they need more experienced people to come and share skills - climate campers, facilitators, mediators, rope-climbers, media people, tech people, those with good experience of direct action and networking. it's time, they say, for you to charge up your phones and get down to parliament square and give whatever time you can to continue building this new movement.

with unprecedented "austerity cuts" imminent (all because the banks stole our cash!), this summer could finally see the long-time-mooted "summer of rage", as unions, public service workers, teachers, and nurses all come under attack from an unelected government. if the camp can continue to grow deep roots in the square, and if it gets the support from the wider protest movement that it is now showing it deserves, then magical things might begin to happen.

even if the first court case is lost, there may be grounds for appeal, so there may be weeks rather than days in which to strengthen the camp's physical presence. but the sooner more people become involved, the more chance there is that the camp will be difficult if not impossible to remove.

they are trying to keep their blogspot up to date, but this is one of the things they need media-savvy techies to help. any takers?

Credit Crunch

Yes this viewpoint has become the popularist stance. However I personnally am more inclined to blame the polititions than the banks. In Canada for example, the lending sector is more regulated than in the UK and the credit crunch implosion of banking assets has not occurred. In some ways banks were merely doing their job - to maximise profits within the legal framework. The post Thatcher political 'consensus' in the UK lead to this more or less totally unregulated financial sector - the 'magic of market' religion. Yes this was in many ways reflecting 'city' values and lobbying, but that factor also exists in Canada. The polititions set the game. They are responsible. Given that that situation has happened, i.e. a huge bank hole in bank assets due to the implosion of this credit bubble, especially 'sub prime' lending to those that couldn't really afford it, it was observed that the banks were actually very close to defaulting themselves, to closing doors and ceasing operations. That would have lead to huge panic and even seizing up of the money economy...shops shutting shops, food riots even. I.e. a breakdown of society. Thats why, or at least a large part of the reason why, huge amounts of taxpayers money were injected into the banks. So the bad debt was taken on by the state, which in turn has lead to a possibilty of default by the state. This is why government spending is being slashed, and taxed raised to some extent. Obviously (in terms of the mainstream game), the government doesn't want to trigger a further economic recession by shutting down economic activity. I would also say that in reality the state wastes huge amounts of cash. Just because more is being spent doesn;t mean better value - in terms of free enterprise reality, that would be crazy thinking. So Browns monotonous repetition of ''we've spent more on schools, hospitals, police etc etc etc'' means nothing per say - its might have been wasted. A lot of money has been fritted away on worthless, evil even, projects by nu labour.

..so what is needed

..is a total move away from the current mainstream paradigm towards a liberatarian anarchist reality. Yes I do think actually that government could help in this process by changing law to help make it real rather than suppress, pervert and politrickion blag. Things like planning for low impact permaculture, Forestry Commission etc native woodland rather than mindless coniferisation, state sale at low price of cannabis and extasy, civil rights legalisation, containment of police powers, independent body to investigate and expose MI5 etc process/actions, removal of CCTV, no Trident nuclear weapons, seriously limit military spending, ...aiming for a nu reality in which people currently employed in private and public sector would have other livlihoods...realities...much much better realities, in particularly in terms of core consciousness and values. Of course people say ''the governments never going to do that, the system is a pile of shit, we have to do it anyway etc etc''..and yet the government, the mainstream, the legal framework exerts a very powerful influence on society/reality. The potential of change ona fundimental level of direct is huge, and from my own experience I would say in many ways this works ona level of magic rather than neccessarily the usual material level. Amazing really...and yet the mainstream reality is still locked into evil illusion and dispair.

..meant to say ''direct action''. Specifically really, NVDA. Never did I think when viewing the eco warrior crew shaking fences and the like on a video from the early nineties that kinda one of the principle manifestations of doing the direct action would be on the level of occult empowerment and magic. I imagine what this would be like if lots more of the community started doing this stuff - we'd have a totally different reality - and I'm talking on the level of magic - like we would have an Avalon for real reality or something...again the key I think is a sound goddess/Mother Earth grounding/incorporation into our reality rather than ritual abuse negation/block/stupidity/scism etc etc. Thats not just words - huge consciousness/reality change, very much for real. This is the potential.

Already done that trip

...busy doing other stuff now boy :) Seen the potential though, as I said. Of course it doesn't always work the way I said by the way. 'Sites' can be very very different from each other - some very materialistic, at others people into the magical aspect of it all. (and this will obviously effect the individual on the site). Some used to take the magic REALLY far...especially on some of road protests. Like doing actions...direct action sabatarge, and no overt statements made to the media at all, wether corporate or non corporate. However people would be aware of the event - the wider community - and this happening through the process of magic (in Native American terminology, medicene), incredibly powerful, and you feel it as a 'pixy', you could feel it channelling through you, and of course so would others..like reality warping around you, the 'medicene' taking over the TV when you walked into a place. Crazy stuff like that. It (NVDA/pixying) is also, by the way, VERY good 'karma' (merit or otherwise of actions). I know that for sure. I still feel that 'medicene' by the way...it especially tends to come through when you do powerful drugs like LSD or Extasy...the instant karma thing. Very powerful goddess energy, sometimes with a tribal sovereignty bias - that is by the way important to keep the magic 'on centre' I think. I'd never for example use the union jack, or myself even the red cross (bloody cross of christ) as a banner/flag/innvocation. (England needs a new flag, I did suggest an oak tree flag, and guess what, Cameron stole it!).

Yes again, these are words on a computor screen..but this is not fiction people. I describe realities...other realities from the mainstream type materialistic hegmony.

Its like you become a walking goddess channel...

10.06.2010 19:40

...the more pixying etc you do, the more powerful a channel, and this channel effects those around you. BUT there are also very powerful forces that try and stop this from happening, that will try and cut you off from the goddess/Mother Earth, to send you mad even. This positive magical effect is so strong it effects the state people, it totally warps reality. Mad! Really as I said before this huge consciousness IS the solution...when it happens for real on community wide level. I do think it would help for many many more in the community to be doing the direct action, to be thus kinda as a side effect channeling this powerful magic, and the whole community waking up, breaking free of the norman yoke so to speak. (well most of the community). I do think that when this reality shift is actually 'foculised' on a community wide level, it places the state power, and those individuals that are part of that construct, into a karmic trap of nightmarish proportions...the counterpoint to the positive shift experiencd by most.
