I don't see the big deal?

What is anyone supposed to do with this information: put money into the account? Because that's the only thing you could do with it. Why in the world shouldn't this information be on the web?

Jeremy Clarkson published his bank account and got stung

Clarkson stung after bank prank
 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/7174760.stm

It seems like someone was able to set up a direct debit taking money from his account, from only knowing his bank account number and sort code.

I wonder what the EDL's password is - "Heil Hitler"?

On second thoughts

Someone has probably passed it on to Nigerian Scammers already. He really needs to check it daily from now on. It is common knowledge that the banks refuse to compensate anybody with adequate warning when their account is emptied anonymously.

Clarkson

Clarkson was stupid enough to state his PIN on national tv, expressing his irritation at security culture and explaining that without someone actually holding his card his PIN is useless. Amusingly enough the twat got stung for large dolla.

Easy to take money.

The guy who set Clarkson up for a £500 a month direct debit to Diabetes UK was protected by the data protection act.

Wouldn't it be humorous to set this chap up to a direct debit to the UAF or the Communist Party of Britain. You don't need any pin numbers for direct debit just the details he has given.

Report them and get them slung off of facebook. You can also report them to their bank [might / might not work but worth a try], protest against their bank etc.
