600 jobs are under threat - Tell the BBC Trust to stop the cuts

On Tuesday 25 May Birmingham & Coventry Branch NUJ members and supporters will arrive outside the Mail Box at 12.50 to start the protest at 13.00.

The Branch requests all who can to join us, bring yourself, your friends, your trade union banner.

The public consultation on the BBC Trust's Strategy Review ends on Tuesday 25th May. We have a chance over the next few days to convince the Trust to stop the cuts.

The BBC is planning savage cuts to BBC magazines like the Radio Times, and to 6 Music and the BBC Asian Network. The plans also include staffing cuts, so that up to 600 jobs are under threat. We want the BBC to focus on strengthening and improving its services, not cutting back.

There has been significant opposition to the proposals already and these events are planned to mark the end of the consultation process with the Trust.
The Branch want to give the Trust a clear message that audiences and staff won't stand for the cuts.
