Call Out against EDL Fascists May 22

Call out for all ANTIFASCISTS against the EDL, this saturday, in Parliment Square.

The Neo Nazis are planning to march through the centre of London, for their "London Patriotic March" this saturday 22 may!

The EDL (English Defense League) and "Casuals United" as well as members of the BNP are planning on marching to Whitehall to hand in a letter, they are planning on marching through Parliment Square.



From the Casuals United website...

"Assemble 12.30 at St James Park underground station, head for Broadway exit our stewards will be there to guide you. Various pubs will be open. We will be leaving at 2pm for march to Downing St to hand in a letter. Various groups are involved in this and turnout will be massive."

The EDL and Casuals want to march through Parliment Square towards Whitehall.
Obviously Parliment Square will be a target for them, as its currently occupied by the Democracy Meltdown/Peacestrike camp.

The camp must be protected!

LONDON ANTIFA invites all Anti-fascists are invited to counter the demo, and defend the peace camp.

Please arrive at the Parliment Square camp at 12:30, we will decide what action to take.

You may be antifascists but this is NOT from anyone in Antifa London, it is misleading people, irresponsible and plays into the hands of so many opponents.

To anyone who goes to this, I repeat this demonstration HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANTIFA LONDON.

1. london antifa haven't discussed or agreed to this. Whoever put this out is taking a few liberties.

2. nothing official put out from edl about this event

3. vague anonymous last minute callouts on a public access website is not a strategy for mobilising against the edl

These sad fuckers do have the abillity to pull a crowd, at least in our fair, up North, and a lot of dissafected EDL's hardcore suporters will be there since thier leaders turned grass.

It may or may not have been trolled. It may or not be heading through Parliement Sq, but the route from the station is short and with few possibilities.

Either way its a Saturday, the weather forecast is good (bonus) and we know where these cunts are heading from and too.

Antifa London is the name of a POLITICAL GROUP. This individual, as I assume they are no more than one person, has used the reputation of Antifa London to issue this call. If people turn up and it all goes tits up if hundreds of casuals kick-off then.....well you fill in the next bit.

Issuing FALSE statements in the name of another Political Group is bang out of order, politically immature and misleads people who might attend.

So fine have an antifascists/anti-nazi call out, despite the majority of anarchists in London not seeing the EDL as either Fascists or Nazi's but patriotic boot boys nonetheless. The failure for some sections of the Left and Anarchists to recognise the difference from the NF and EDL has aided rather than decrease their growth.

The post is a troll job. For a start the EDL have seen in the Evening Standard that uniformed soldiers have protested against the war in Afghanistan at Democracy Village and they know that the peace camp supports our troops.
The EDL do have members from different ethnic and religious backgrounds however they DO have card carrying BNP on their demos and people in Blood and Honour t-shirts have showed up on marches and rallies.

Being a Jewish Londoner and an EDL supporter it's at least refreshing to see some people on the left recognize the difference between EDL and the likes of BNP/NF/C18. NF got run in Luton by EDL, the mixed bag of Nazis got similar treatment down Whitehall, and the now famous prick doing the Nazi salute in Brum got his arse thrown off the EDL bus. EDL is a large % Casuals, not skinhead throwbacks or ageing NFers, and have/would gladly have a pop at a group of Nazis confronting them just as much as they would if confronted by a mob of Anarchists,Islamists or Communists.

It was beginning to seem that the left side were all spouting the same nonsense the UAF come out with. You would expect the likes of Class War and other working class lads to at least understand what the bulk of EDL are about, looks like some of you have.

Nice try Spark-plug, but if Class War had any time for the EDL my first guess is Class War founder Ian Bone wouldn't have celebrated EDL getting beaten-up in Bristol (whether Bone's version of events was accurate is another question, either way he was expressing hatred for EDL)

EDL trolls post on Indymedia trying to spin the "EDL are Loyalists not Nazis" line - and EDL think this is dead clever, to try infiltrate what they see as a naive Anarchist mind-set to divide Anti-Fascists by flattering militant Anarchists that making excuses for the EDL shows the militants as being more in touch with working-class culture. The problem is that working-class people understand the links between Loyalism and Fascism, from Billy Fullerton's strike-breakers through C18 in the 80s and 90s to the Nazis who try to agitate modern Rangers fans. If Anarchists were naive about these then my other guess is EDL might have been welcomed in Edinburgh and Glasgow

Think my previous comment was misunderstood. I have no interest, or time for, Anarchists, Communists, Class War or any other groups who take no pride in their appearance. Was merely stating that 'some' Anarchists had worked out for themselves what makes up the bulk of the EDL - Casuals, not skinheads, Nazis or any other outdated clowns. Though it would seem some of you are still towing the line of the UAF goons.
