Against Disposable Society

Anyone wishing to 'fight climate change' in the home after they have insulated their homes and turned their heating down to the point where they are freezing might look for further inspiration to sweden where they are producing a very efficient washing machine called the ISE 1606w.
The company's mission statement is to reduce inbuilt obsolesence and spec whitegoods that are designed to be repaired economically and last twenty years plus under conditions of heavy use.
The machines are a response to the trend in recent years to follow consumer demand for cheap, lower spec machines that pack in after 3 - 5 years and lead to 1.3 million machines being dumped every year.
The 1606W semi commercial machine cost £900 delivered but they do a cheaper model at - £500. Class war etc.
You can look at the machines on a site called 'uk whitegoods'
PS I don't work for ISE nor do I believe that this in any way seriously addresses global warming / eco collapse so don't hide this second attempt at publishing this re written article please, I think this represents public interest

Revolutionary Washing Machine
There is a washing machine out that's carefully marketed to appeal to hardcore environmentalists. The makers claim the machine is designed to be economically repaired and will thus last ten or twenty+ times longer than modern low spec cheap machines 1.5 million of which get binned every year. Also that they're easier and cheaper to repair than the rival high end German Miele machines.
But come on UK Whitegoods, do you really think you can fool everyone into thinking they're going to solve climate change by buying a washing machine? Wooden wringers! That's what they should be making.
