'Supreme Master' cult promote breatharianism

The 'Supreme Master' cult have come to prominence in the UK vegan scene in recent years. The bleach blonde 'enlightened' cult leader 'Supreme Master Ching Hai' has an estimated 20,000 followers world wide mostly in Taiwan and other parts of South East Asia but increasingly in Europe and the US. They are prominent in the UK at animal rights and vegan events and have opened two restaurants in London (Peking Palace and Loving Hut). They have a tv channel on Sky tv (in the UK) which mostly features programmes with the repetitive messages on the virtues of the 'Supreme Master' and her magical mediation method, promoting veganism/health and the environment.
Harmless enough? Yes, but the cult has taken a sinister turn recently, promoting through their programmes the idea of 'breatharianism'. The untrue idea that a person can live without food or water.

The one hour programme on the 'Supreme Master TV' begins with a strange disclaimer 'Please do not attempt to cease eating without proper expert guidance'. Trained to cease eating? The claim is then made 'People who do not need food to survive have always existed in human history' and that 'Being food free helps us discover our innerself.'... 'People who follow a food free lifestyle can draw the energy from nature to nourish themselves.'
The claims are astonishing but perhaps ring truer drilled into the viewer, as they are repeated again and again as this strange film unfolds.
The main focus of the film is a fitness instructor Jericho Sunfire who demonstrates incredible feats of strength. It's difficult to not be impressed by his physique and ability until he begins to explain sinister claims, proclaiming 'breatharianism' to be 'the individuals natural state...People who follow a food free lifestyle can draw the energy from nature to nourish themselves.'
'When you go through the anguish, the torment of letting go...of your organs shrinking...people think they are hungry but they are not. Its just your body getting back to its natural size...You're not so much feeding yourself. You're feeding a need.' He claims 'organs changing their purpose for different things.....Sometimes I feel juiced up....Can you imagine the reduction in trash/packaging...You've got a lifetime worth of food for free.'
The 'Supreme Master' herself appears on film to claim, 'They come from all walks of life, from all cultures' perhaps to take the attention away from this being an India only phenomena, from where most myths about breatharians come from, and to where many such as Sai Baba have been exposed as using magic tricks to convince followers to donate money.
The film ends with an endorsement of Jericho Sunfire, 'May heaven bless you for all your endeavors to help human kind'.
Exactly what kind of help it is, telling people it is beneficial to their health to give up food and water? Breatharianism is a fraud. Many famous 'breathariansits' have been caught out buying/eating food. Those few who have offered to undergo scientific tests have failed claiming as other fakes like Uri Geller do that 'the conditions are not right today'.
Long periods without food and water will surprise surprise.....kill you. But there will be many more who will damage their bodies beyond repair. They are also encouraging those with eating disorders or leaning that way to justify their desire not to eat.
What the Supreme Master's objective is with these regular broadcasts about not eating is unclear but with hundreds of restaurants/meditations centres worldwide, and more opening each week playing this propaganda over and over to vulnerable people who are attracted to these cults, it is likely some will carry this advice through.
Jericho Sunfire is being given a platform to speak at the Bristol Eco Veggie Fayre in May.
The Supreme Master cult are being given platforms at many AR and vegan events around the UK.

Veggies of Nottingham have done outstanding good work with schools and parents in promoting healthy veggie diets. There are plenty of healthy vegans and veggies. Cults such as The Supreme Master people damage the good reputations of people like Veggies.
Any cult, whoever they are is bad enough and to combine an extreme diet with cultism is quite common unfortunately. It's how cult leaders keep control, people on poor diets find that their thought processes slow down and that they become weaker and easier to manipulate.
The people who actually work or volunteer in Loving Hut seem nice enough people but at the end of the day this is a cult and anyone who encourages young people to stop eating all together should be stopped. Anorexia kills.

Supreme master religion is only a "cult" because not many people follow it compared to other religions. Once it starts to not become a cult is when you got to start worrying, although not half as much as the religions I talked about above!
Anyway, I'm surprised you did not bring keith mann and the pogo cafe people and the APP into this. You usually do!
You are best off sticking to articles/stuff like this mandy, although please don't worry your self too much about it. I'm sure it wont attract many to this cult.
My ultimate advice would be to put your computer down, get out, enjoy the fresh air, the sun and maybe go away for a few days. It does wonders for the mind and you will feel much better about life........................ but please - make sure you eat!

Is it the silly season already?

Police believe a woman found dead in a remote part of the Scottish Highlands may have starved herself as part of her religious beliefs.
A diary belonging to Australian-born Verity Linn suggested she had been fasting to fulfill the rules of a ritual normally practised by Tibetan monks.
Her naked body was found on 16 September by a fisherman on the west coast of Sutherland near Loch Cam.
It is understood Ms Linn - thought to be in her 40s - worked for the new-age community of the Findhorn Foundation at Cluny Hill College in Forres.
Her diary recorded her last days as she refused to eat or drink, believing it would "spiritually cleanse" her body and "recharge her both physically and mentally."
Survival method
Ms Linn's writing's revealed she had practised "breatharianism" - a survival method which relies on light and taking only tiny amounts of food and liquid.
Her diary said she entered into a complete fasting period on 4 September and two days later she travelled by bus from Forres to Inverness and then on to Sutherland where she pitched her tent on a rocky hillside.
Although the results of a post mortem are not expected for a number of days, detectives are convinced the woman was the victim of her interest in a little-known cult which promoted fasting.
Her diary mentioned the teachings of self-proclaimed prophet Jasmuheen who believes people can draw nourishment from the "divine life force in the form of liquid light".
'Popular member'
One of Ms Linn's former colleagues at Findhorn, Robin Alfred, said she was a popular and valued member of the community.
He added: "It would be unfair to speculate on what happened to her as there is no medical confirmation that fasting did contribute to her death.
"We did not know that she was on a fast nor were we aware of any other health condition she may have suffered from. All we knew was she was going on holiday and we wished her well."
A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: "We can confirm the links with the foundation. It seems her intention was to carry out this "cleansing" and then continue with her normal life.
"We suspect that her fasting was a contributory factor in her death."

Interesting how whenever anything negative appears against any of this [or you] you always assume it's me...you'll find that other people find the alien cultism every bit as strange and stupid as I do and that as far as Camden is concerned we have lots of support here too where having a residents campaign seperate from AR is concerned.

exagerated writing

why you have felt the need to exagerate all this stuff is beyond me.
this IS a religion, and as such is bad.
it promotes a hiarchy of power,
it congradulates governments for their successes towards the environment (promoting the ideology of governments),
they are anti drugs, alchol and tobacco (you'll take my bottle from my cold dead hands!),
and they promote the concept of gods, and belive in heavon.
and they are pasafists.
so yeah they arnt the best thing to happen to veganism since sliced bread, but to be quite honest, their promoting veganism, opening vegan restraunts.
they rank below the mormons, and quakers and just above CND in my list of organisations to destroy.
if your going to slag these guys off, tell the truth, keep to the facts, and evidence each of your claims (they dont hide thir agenda, so its not hard)

Everyone has their right to believe in whatever they want. Even if it's so unusual.
I don't even mind people believing in breatharianism.
But they DO NOT go forcing it onto other people.
This whole "Supreme Master Association" thing going on, doesn't look like a cult to me.
If the group has so many "followers," all those "followers" have a personality and live their own lives.
Hell, if you people actually look at what the "Supreme Master" has to say, you'll know she is a sincere woman who will also want people to "not neglect their families" and take good care of them.
Hell, I even remember a certain someone, telling me, seeing her [Ching Hai] scold a "sister" [referring to a follower] for neglecting family for coming to the retreat.
You can't simply judge the whole group, when everyone has their own individualistic qualities.
Heck, I think I talked with some followers. They are capable of critical thinking too and wouldn't pull off any crazy stunts to kill themselves. Some of them believe in breatharianism, but know it is not in their reach and will not practice it.
Sure all of you are free to criticize all you want, but if you're going to be serious, get your head out of your ass and look into the real intent of all these controversial individuals.

People live strong for years on do-nuts and coffee yet where's the alarm bells, where is the prohibition of useless foods ???? Yeah don't worry about the efforts of your master, just attack those of its adversary @@.
Most people commenting negatively have a reason for doing so and I doubt it is compassion for others lives when they spill them so easily for the cry "we must eat to live"
Easier to attack [you learn from your educator TV and high regard] the different but harmless views of another than to look at the worse destruction being done from their own lifestyles.
If he can do it, if anyone can, we need to embrace the mentality of it rather than feeding off the sorrow of innocent animals who's purpose is not for your belly.
So show your hand to me, attack the way of writing or something but above all, ignore what I say for it is said in love consciousness, not fear which is what I see propagated here.
As for why would we have a digestive system if we were not meant to eat, its about the choice, just like everyone has a heart but so few use it, through choice, conscious or not
If you can't get your head around the absorbtion and assimilation of elements from nature look into the study of sunscreen in breast milk passed onto the unborn child through the mothers skin. The livers ability to biologically transform elements has had little study. And where can they find a healthy natural human species in mankind anyway, we have all been corrupted by the filth.

Sunfire is a fake. If he has gone years without eating, get tested by scientists. Show this to the world and save millions starving. He won't because he is a liar. He eats and drinks like we all do. There is no proof of any breatharian existing. No animal is capable of living from air. This myth comes from India where gurus would claim flying, disappearing, healing powers to attract followers. Magicians have proved the flying, producing objects, etc to be just tricks. Breatharian is the easiest. Just tell people like Stan and they believe you.
Shame on Genesis Sunfire (his new name) and shame on the Supreme Master Ching Hai cult for giving this idiot a platform. Jericho, if you are reading this, stop this nonsense before one of your followers kills themselves.
