Bristol: May Day party & benefit

wobbly | 29.04.2010 22:18 | Mayday 2010 | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements

The newly formed Bristol branch of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW, or Wobblies), invites you along to add some fun and games to our history of Mayday resistance and struggle with a night of stonking live bands and dancefloor filling DJ's.

Saturday 1 May, from 8pm to late, at The Plough, 223 Easton Rd, Easton BS5 0EG. £3/4 requested donation in on the door.

Playing live we have:
Spanner - militant ska'd up Bristol punksters
Barrio Kingdom - guttural hard-hitting dub, drum n bass, and hip hop 'umph'
The Directors - local 3-piece experimental psuedo-political ska-tinged dissent loving rock machine
On the decks:
DJ Batko - old skool jungle
Rockin Gazza - ska & rocksteady
and Mystery DJ's

Members of Bristol IWW will be hanging around the bar / door / dancefloor & smoking area ready to regale you with tales of past acts of heroic anti-capitalist resistance, and why we need much more of the same right now. Info and nifty t-shirts also available.

Funds raised go to Bristol IWW's propaganda and workers defence teams.
