Posters go up, posters come down, another hard day for Zippos Circus

ACATA | 26.04.2010 18:40 | Animal Liberation

Today Zippo's Circus started their campaign of blitzing Sidcup with posters. Literally hours after the posters went up, ACATA activists were on the street to educate the public and shop owners about what happens behind the scenes at a circus which the public never get to see.

We received such an amazing response from the end of Sidcup High Street that we covered that, get this Zippo's, we've decided to do the other end tomorrow!

Holiday shops, bed sellers and estate agents, among others, all made the compassionate move to remove their posters and several binned hundreds of money off vouchers the circus ha given them for the public.

Lots of local people were interested in the campaign and we're expecting a really positive response when we start our protests next week.

If you're free next Thursday night, send us an email to:  acata@activist.com for all the details about the demonstrations, or simply just pop along!

Excellent Amazing.
Now why can't other animal rights people in other towns do the same where a circus is being held if they have not done already.
You are an inspiration to all and you shame many others.

Keep track of Zippos, and other animal circuses

Details for circuses with captive animals are compiled by Veggies Animal Rights Calendar, to support polite and peaceful protest.

In 2007 the RSPCA reported there to be just 33 wild animals left in circuses in the UK. There are also 'domestic' animals, including cats, horses and dogs who also endure captivity, training and touring.

Zippos have faced criticism for their use of horses, birds and dogs (these are not 'pets').
They are pitched up near Tooting Rail Station in Mitcham until May 4th.
Then May 6th - 11th at Sidcup Place Park, Chislehurst Road, Sidcup, Kent, DA14 6BF

Follow their tour dates at  http://www.veggies.org.uk/page.php?ref=331#zippos

Email  arc@veggies.org.uk with details of animal circus tour dates, venues, proposed demos or press reports.

Copy details to CAPS at  info@captiveanimals.org, from whom you can order leaflets and posters for demos or for distribution on stalls, or for local shop keepers to display in place of circus publicity.

Hackney

We de-advertised Zippos in Hackney almost entirely in the first day the posters were put up - be careful because a girl taking down illegally fly-posted ones was attacked by the people putting them up who drove by and noticed her taking them down! She wasn't hurt by them, but one did follow her having tried to grab her belongings out of her hand.

Most places were told about the fact that Zippos use animals, those places that said they would not take down the posters were either asked again or later visited by "a guy from the circus" who informed them that sadly the shows had to be postponed so the posters were now out of date and new ones would be delivered soon.

Keep up the work everyone. Well done.
