Mukul Hira local [Halal butcher] resident was told by AR that there is "no room" for him in this campaign. AR should hang their heads in shame! This man was one of those who started this campaign against the lab and was told he cannot campaign by AR people. "Don't antagonise the residents" your leaflets say? Too late. Most of the people on the Somers Town estate are Bengali and Mukul Hira is seen as a community leader and is liked, respected and looked up to by everyone here.

Residents campaigners are mostly living here in poverty and are just trying to get something for local people. Most people here are not interested in animal rights, they are not vegetarians and we do not like the way you animal rights have treated local people. The way Mukul Hira has been spoken of by animal rights people is disgusting. Many of the Animal Rights people are racist and from the BNP.
To animal rights people, be warned, Somers Town is our town not yours.

If one AR campaigners said that there is no room for someone in your community campaign they were clearly wrong to do so, this is not the view of most AR people.

For the record Candy Udwin's, Mukul Hira's and Mandy Ford's main concern over the lab are community ones shared by residents, in particular how this will affect Muslims living nearby to the lab who get accused of being terror suspects ...the lab will make things worse for the community. Picking on Mukul Hira has not helped the AR case for campaigning with residents who live here.
At a residents meeting resident group campaigners from the Green Party and other groups voiced concerns over the AR campaign, it was said by residents [not Mandy Ford in fact] that they did not want the lab because of AR campaigners who have been bullying residents so you might find that several people have been picked on by more than one person and there have been attempts to muscle people out of the campaign which has to stop.
Mandy, everyone is entitled to their views. The animal rights campaign will continue and I'm sure the community one will as well. There will be differences between the two but I see no need for animosity.
We both don't want the lab and I accept that part of your reason maybe not wanting AR activists on your doorstep (which will be an inevitable consequence of the lab being built). However at this time we have a common goal – to ensure the lab is never built. Fighting each other will make it more likely that the lab will be built.

in your last sentence about community leaders needing to consider what is most important you reveal more about yourself than perhaps you realise. why place all of the responsibility on others, to unite the campaign against the lab? if you believe in animal rights and want to further cause as well as prevent the lab YOU need to work to unite groups and individuals in camden not keep telling others to do so. people will have animosity towards the AR crowd as long as members of the AR crowd behave as badly as they have been doing in camden. to put a stop to the animosity towards the AR crowd requires a change in attitude and behaviour from the AR crowd, not a blaming of everybody else for not liking their bad behaviour.
I don't know anything about what any AR people have done - I am only one person and can't speak for others or tell them what to do.
I don't have any time for anyone AR or otherwise that is fighting each other rather than the lab. It's not a matter of uniting, it's a matter of respecting differances and getting on with our own thing - any AR or local campaigner not doing that is making the lab more likely.

When people are under attack they defend themselves. Defending yourself isn't wrong. Camden residents have come under attack from AR activists and this isn't confined to just one or two people. Several residents have spoken out about being bullied by AR.
