This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Deutsche-Welle.
From CHINA- Recovery efforts continue in Northwestern China which was hit by a serious earthquake last week. A report on the BRIC summit (Brazil, Russia, India and China) held last week. Two reports from Thailand on the standoff between government forces and the red-shirts.
From NETHERLANDS- Radio Netherlands has eliminated shortwave broadcasts to North America. The decision is based on their surveys that find very few listeners in N America. If you ever listen to RN on shortwave, please let them know- by email to  letters@rnw.nl or send them a letter to Radio Netherlands Worldwide, PO Box 222, 1200JG, Hilversum, The Netherlands.
Polly Higgins is an environmental campaigner who wants the United Nations to recognize environmental destruction as ecocide, and to prosecute it like genocide. German anti-nuclear activists will demonstrate this weekend to force the government to carry on with the closure of all nuclear power plants by 2020.
From CUBA- Iran held a conference on disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation, calling on the world to abandon nuclear weapons. Lebanon wants to United Nations to pressure Israel to get rid of nuclear weapons and comply with international treaties on disarmament. A Viewpoint on the Climate Change Conference being held in Bolivia as an alternative to the Copenhagen meeting.
From RUSSIA- Russia is willing to sign a new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, but insists that the US abandon its plans to install anti-ballistic missiles on the Russian borders.
