Antifash York | 15.04.2010 20:22 | Anti-racism

The recent alarming rise of the fascist BNP in this area is shown by the number of aondidates up for election.

City of York:

Carol Smurthwaite (York Outer)
Already worming her way into local councils:  http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/8090069.BNP_candidate_was_co_opted_on_to_Heworth_Without_Parish_Council/?ref=rss
Jeff Kelly (York Central)

North Yorkshire:

Trisha Scott (Scarborough & Whitby)
Duncan Lorriman (Selby & Ainsty)
Bernard Allen (Skipton & Ripon)
Steve Gill (Harrogate & Knaresborough)

East Yorkshire:

Neil Whitelam (Beverley & Holderness)
Gary Pudsey (Yorkshire East)
James Cornell (Haltemprice & Howden)

Hull:

Edward Scott (Hull West & Hessle)
John Mainprize (Hull North)

Time to mobilise against the Fash - Further information welcome!

Unfortunately there is no left alternative here other than Greens, as well as smatterings of ED/UKIP so it could become a very right-wing area.
This has in the past (especially North Yorkshire) been a relatively BNP-free area but candidates and support has risen alarmingly in recent year to the level on which I report here.

Time for more Anti-facsist action here methinks...anyone interested??

are the tories and labour party not fascist too? - is this not a fascist police state? do you understand what fascism is? is labour's IMF style multiculturaism ( sic ) a kind of fascism splitting communities on top down racial lines? poerhaps you could get through to people if you relaly understyood faqscism and how it works with the 3rd sector and PFI/PPP. The BNP sickos are just a dumb distraction. Or is the antifascism only good for a macho punch up without analysis or engagement with other disenfranchises souls who just maybe you could swing around ( unlike some of those globetrotting liberal biggots who feature prominently in thiese pages - scratch a liberla and find a middle class fascist ) Just what the cops want then isn't it. Slogans and tabloid style analysis as usual. Follow the money and finmd where 'benefits' really go to. accountants,charity-toffs,eco-fascists, arts council robbers, public sector healthcare bosses, professional consultants, think-tanks, and other not-for-profit( don't make me laugh ) businesses. etc etc etc. thenyou may engage with people- facts figgures not bullshit either form the guardian, the mail, nor Indymedia.
