Police to enforce ban Mayday protest in Parliament Square

London Mayday group | 06.04.2010 12:42

The met police have issued a statement today saying that because the proposed Mayday demonstration in Parliament Square does not have prior written permission it is illegal under the SOCPA law and anyone attending is liable to arrest.

This warning comes as thousands plan to converge on Parliament Square for a Mayday demonstration due to coincide with the forthcoming general election. Police have stated they will be out in large numbers to enforce a ban on the demonstration and will order groups of people to disperse if they see them protesting. If they refuse they will be liable to immediate arrest.
