Calais solidarity Demo UKBA Brighton
CMS UK | 01.04.2010 21:01 | Anti-racism | Migration | Repression | South Coast | World
Brighton CMS held demo outside the UKBA offices yesterday in Brighton, in solidarity with migrants in Calais and beyond.
Protesters gave out flyers on the high street and by the offices, and held a banner reading “UKBA stop joint deportations: Calais migrant solidarity.” About every week joint charter flights organised by the UK and French governments deport large numbers of Afghan migrants, many of whom have not yet had a chance to complete the asylum process. With the repression increasing on the ground in Calais, and on this side of the border, we demand freedom of movement for all and act in solidarity with those without papers.

No more joint deportation between UK and France. The JOINT charter flights were stopped by France in December 2009. However, BOTH countries continue to do mass-deportations of Afghan migrants on charter flights independently every week, with the UK using a London-Kabul route as part of "Operation Ravel".
So the struggle continues.....
