A hardcore of never-say-die Brookside fans are campaigning to get the classic Merseyside soap released onto DVD.

Marshaled by local Liverpool man Lee Brady, the group has set up a website to communicate its aims and, after an initial burst of activity back in 2007, is now intending to send a petition to Lime Pictures, Channel 4 and Phil Redmond.

Their petition has currently attracted over 4,300 signatures and support from ex-cast members such as Dean Sullivan (Jimmy Corkhill), Bryan Murray (Trevor Jordach), Louis Emerik (Mick Johnson) & more plus Phil Redmond gave them his support also.

Redmond has also apparently given his seal of approval to the drive to get 'classic episodes' from the show's 21 year run onto DVD.

Mr Brady, who started the Campaign alongside fellow fan Danny Burton, said he going to send the petition in the "very near future".

Of the show itself he noted that it was "a big part of Liverpool's TV history" and "a brilliant programme to watch."

He said "The way it was conceived, written and filmed was different because it was entirely on location. That location was entirely an actual street in Liverpool. This has never been done before or since".

Brookside was broadcast from 1982 to 2003. It ran for a total of 2915 episodes.
