German Radio reports during the night: Workers´ strikes lead to powercuts in parts of Thessaloniki, in Athens police uses stun grenades against youths.

It was reported that a strike over government austerity measures by workers at Greece's main public power utility (PPC) lead to rotating power cuts across the country late Tuesday. The 48-hour closure of at least half-a-dozen power stations across Greece, starting early Tuesday, lead to one hour blackouts in areas around the city capital Athens, the northern port city of Thessaloniki and mainland Greece.

In Athens police fired stun grenades to disperse youths outside parliament in the evening. German Radio, WDR reported at midnight that clashes continued during the night.
