NO to Tescos. The latest battle and the upcoming struggle at the Jester's Comedy Squat.
A message from Jester's Comedy Squat resisting yet another TECOS in Bristol.
Today, Tuesday the 9th of March 2010, bureaucrats, private bailiffs and contractors turned up at 140 Cheltenham Road the site of the old Jester's Comedy Club. The owners, Tescos, received a possession order from the courts last month and the goons had arrived this morning to carry it out.
They were denied entry.
They will always be denied entry no matter how many corporate scumbags, bailiffs, security and police turn up.
This was the first eviction attempt and we are ready for the next one, be it in the next few days or a month.
We therefore calling for help from anyone that can spare it. We need to be even more ready for the next attempt. That means fortifying and barricading the building better. It means cooking and cleaning inside, carrying on with the events that we have been doing, and keeping the spirit alive.
Outside we need to be talking to people around us to explain what we are doing and why.
Thank you to everyone that turned up this morning, it was really appreciated. Next time they will come back with more forces and it would be great to get us all out again. Loads of us on the street outside really helps, makes people inside feel stronger and can make the difference!
We support the attack on the Tescos in Redfield http://bristol.indymedia.org/article/692052. We see that their actions and our occupation are part of a broad struggle with different ways of resisting Tescos and its take over of our city. Solidarity is one of our most important weapons that we have in this fight.
Helping each other out completely undermines what this system is trying to do to our lives and this planet.
Come down! Anything you can do helps, and 'every little hurts' them!

blighting your own community

You have blighted stokes croft already, now you are blighting the newservice you use, because even if you continue these actions, it only takes a few brain cells to realise there's a way of putting the language which isn't classed directly as incitement to criminal damage.
You are clearly not to be trusted either in the community, or with the community news outlets you use!

kristallnacht?
i oppose tesco, and the occupation of palestine, but the crudity of the way in which tesco stores are being smashed around bristol, and the way in which the jewish connection has been made in the past, but not openly this time, seem to have some unfortunate parallels.

pretext for mass arrests given?

not very good and strategy and timing are we?
but then i sometimes suspect people prefer being ineffective martyrs.
oh dear!
big up those occupiers!

First I've heard of a Jewish connection to Tescos - think you've been reading one too many conspiracy sites!
And oh dear! - if the occupiers are supportive of other actions against Tescos, even less of a reason for you to cuss them! Give people the credit that they've thought about it and have just come to different conclusions to you (thank heavens!).

Big up ya all.

Spoken like a true apologist.
And didn't you get the memo friend. The conspiracy IS the conspiracy!

The ranting about how Tesco is the "jewel in the crown" of Israels evil Zionist empire has already begun on the other threads. This is getting scary.
If supermarket employees start being attacked because they work for a "Zionist" organisation then I think all hell is going to break loose. I will be monitoring the situation and contacting AFA and the police if this starts happening.
You need to get rid of these loons who see the hand of perfidious Zion in every nook and cranny - they're getting quite vocal about it now, and don't seem to be making any effort to hide their prejudice, which appears to be socially acceptable as long as you make some token reference to Israel.
