Portsmouth Greyhound Track comes to a close!

SARC | 08.03.2010 21:58 | Animal Liberation | South Coast

SARC received the news today that our long running campaign against the Portsmouth Greyhound track has been a success. The Greyhound track has only three weeks left of trading before it closes it's doors forever!

The bad news is that 200 dogs now desperately need re-homing. If anyone thinks they would be able to adopt or foster one of these lovely animals email:  homing@greyhounds4u.co.uk (ensure you write the word 'greyhound' or 'G4U' in the subject line of your email, or within the email itself) or ring 0787 961 5471.

Thankyou so much to everyone who has been involved in this long running campaign! SARC are still working hard into 2010 to alleviate all animal suffering across the South.

It's not over....

**PORTSMOUTH promoter Eric Graham on Wednesday spoke out amid speculation that the track is to cease racing on April 1 following a proposed rent increase.

Graham, who currently sub-leases the track from leaseholders the South East Development Agency, explained: “The situation is that my agreement runs out in the middle of next month.

“All I have done is to inform our trainers, as I believe they should be kept in the loop, but the truth is I’m very hopeful that we will secure an extension to the lease.

“There’s not much happening round here at the moment in terms of development, and I do not see that changing in the near future.”
