A new blog to document radical/anarchist graffiti in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Burn the Border!
Burn the Border!

A new blog has been set up to document the radical/anarchist street art found within the beautiful city of Newcastle upon Tyne. From stencils to cut outs to free hand angry scrawls, all will be documented.

If you have any photos of anarchist art found within the Toon then send them into  toongraffiti@hotmail.co.uk.

All images on the blog are anti-copyright.

You call it 'art' but it isn't really art it it?
Its like calling a scribble 'art'. Or a bustop, or a sign. Lets face it - its a pile of crap, whos only purpose is to make a small, tiny minority of people feel better, but actually serves no real purpose beyond a waste of money.

I rather feel that a time spent doing this vandalism could have been applied to better use in serving the communities benefit.

get rid of advertising

03.03.2010 19:39

at least graffiti can make people think about the world, which just might benefit them and their community.

whereas adverts? dominate our public spaces and contribute what to the local community? zilch. increase our hatred of our own bodies, our needless consumption, our feelings of inadequacy, our kids demands for things we can't afford, and lots more.

get rid of adverts in public spaces! let the graffiti stay. at least the graffiti comes from within the community.

Ban them both

That will keep everyone happy, and stop anyone complaining about it.
Each is a scrurge on people's right to walk down the street without being bombarded with instructions telling them what to do.

I saw some graffiti the other day that said "Ring xxxx to get your cock sucked"
WTF is that all about?

Ban it all and lets be done with it

more graffiti please!

I love graffiti, it brightens the place up and gives something interesting to look at. Sure some is better than others, but on the whole it is better than a boring grey wall or an advertising board. If it has a positive political message as well, all the better.

Never mind just Newcastle, how about an 'Anarchist Graffiti in the UK' website?!
