Are Unite the Union Pro-Vivisection?

It has come to the attention of anti-vivisection activists that national trade union, Unite, are members of the animal research industry's lobbying organisation, Understanding Animal Research who defend those who test on and torture animals. It is obviously more than a case, on Unite's part, of "we represent people in various industries, some of which conduct vivisection..." when the only other members of UAR are those who conduct animal experiments, including Huntingdon Life Sciences, Sequani, Universities of Bradford, Oxford and Cambridge, Quintiles, Covance, Harlan, Wickham (the list goes on) - all of whom have been exposed for animal abuse.

Understanding Animal Research is the new name for Simon Festing's bunch of Research Defence Society mates, however is mainly funded by Charles River Laboratories (primate importer, rodent breeder). Key members include Tipu Aziz, infamous Oxford primate researcher who backed cosmetics testing on animals, Coling Blakemore who sewed up kitten's eyes and more.

Please contact Unite the Union and ask them about their stance on animal experiments:
