Anti fur demonstration with a difference at Cashe Nottingham

Campaign for a Fur Free Nottingham | 20.02.2010 22:05 | Animal Liberation

Protesters from the Campaign for a Fur Free Nottingham gathered outside Cashe today for a demonstration with a difference aimed at Cashe and their policy regarding fur.

The demonstration in Nottingham saw members of the group wearing rabbit and fox masks and a rabbit costume, whilst holding posters and banners, and handing out information leaflets to the general public.

Cashe are a children's designer clothes shop who have been selling real fur trims on their clothing.

Cashe told Campaign for a Fur Free Nottingham that they would not be selling real fur on their shop floor again and would only sell items of real fur online or if people enter the shop to specifically ask for it, which is still unacceptable to the group.

However Cashe have had fur on their shop floor on several occasions, most recently two weeks ago and only removing it during demonstrations.

Cashe have been telling members of the public that they have only ever had one item of real fur that was sent to them by mistake - the shop in fact had several items of real fur that were clearly labeled as rabbit fur.

Cashe have now changed over to their spring collection which does not include any real fur, but the group are continuing the demonstrations with the shop until they adopt a fur free policy. With the way Cashe have acted on this subject, it seems that it is obvious that the shop will continue to sell real fur again next season.

The demonstration went well with a lot of support from the general public who were horrified to hear about the policy Cashe have regarding real fur.

Student journalists were present and also a photographer from the Evening Post.

Demonstrations outside Cashe will continue until they change their policy regarding the sale of real fur.

The next demonstration will be Friday 26th February.

move onto the next place (if there is one locally) that is actually selling fur right now? Might as well hammer this lot just before next season just incase they bring the fur back rather than all year round even as they haven't got any right now.?
