Camden Animal Lab campaign residents "We are up against heavies".

There are plans to build a high level [3+] virus contianment facility and animal testing lab on a Camden Council house estate alongside St Pancras International behind the British Library. Residents have been campaigning against the lab plans. Some have said that "we are up against heavies" and others have spoken of "dirty tactics" by those who are in support of the lab plans including aggression.

A Camden Councillor who is against the lab has been advised by other councillors that campaigning against the lab "could come back on him" and he was advised to stop.
A resident, a quiet middle aged widow who has supported the campaign against the lab has been accused of holding "noisy gang parties" in her flat following "complaints by neighbours". She is not and has never been involved with young male gang members [or any gang members] and the complaints were malicious. She has said "they have done this before to other people, they will smear you".
Residents mail has gone missing and has arrived opened. More than one resident has said that they have been subjected to harrassment and two residents have said that their locks have been broken when they were out.
Two flats have been flooded out and one tenant has had his windows broken.
Threats have included threats of violence. Residents have been told to "move out" by people described as "heavies".

This has happened to more than a couple of people and shows that violence around campaigns is never one sided.

What will the police do to stop this?

We should point out too that this will not stop us.

Most of us are determined to carry on and the residents here are a credit to Camden.
