Arrest Support and Solicitors for the Bradford National Demo
SAEAB Legal Team | 12.02.2010 02:13 | Animal Liberation
SAEAB are organising an arrest support liasion for the National March & Rally against the University of Bradford on Saturday, a contact number for whom will be released on the morning (or alternatively ask a steward on the day). However, until then we are issuing the following information on what to do if you are arrested:
:: WHAT HAPPENS AT THE POLICE STATION? ::
The link below is to a booklet called 'No Comment' which details the ins and outs of being arrested, what your rights are whilst in the police station and possible scenarios during interview:

:: VEGAN? THEN CONTACT THE VPSG ::
Vegans who are arrested should contact the Vegan Prisoners' Support Group (VPSG), who monitor your welfare as a vegan prisoner and try to address any issues which may arise, such as obtaining appropriate food and meals. You can use your one call to contact the VPSG, or just ask for them to be informed. Alternatively, if anybody is arrested the legal team present on the day will attempt to establish your name, where you have been taken to and we will also contact the VPSG.

Whilst the demo will in all likelihood live up to its claims, the cops will almost certainly use violence and act outside of the law.
Thats where the solicitors come in.

The 1in12 Club cafe (on Albion Street, near to the university) will be open all day serving hot drinks and food for anyone who feels they need to get away from it all for a bit. Also, the Northern Indymedia collective will have equipment available to assist legal observers and those who wish to upload their own news to any Indymedia site can do so at the club.
Full coverage of the demo and a timeline of events will be available at http://northern-indymedia.org
