Whatever you think of the animal rights movement - it's aims or methods (what an interesting critique you provided by the way...) - it is obscenely outrageous for you to confer condascending, disdainful judgement of AR proponents as mentally ill. And it is in especially poor taste as this man has just died - a tragedy regardless of the state of his mental health (your judgement concerning his mental health seems founded on no substantial evidence whatsoever, so why comment?).

I'm sympathetic and passionate about most of the causes of the left, but the notion of putting animal welfare before human is utterly obscene to me.

This guy was, according to his father, very ill indeed. He was probably not even aware of his own mind when doing this, which may explain why he was reported to be asking for help.

I'd happily kill and prepare my own meat, as a proud carnivore, and as such I am sickened by the idea that this poor guy will now become a martyr for the delusional Animal Liberation Fascist movement who seek to destroy anyone who does not agree with their extremist minority ideologies.

This guy was sick, that's all there is to it. No connection to the anti-fur mob at all, from what I have read.

ALF is a very well delivered tactic. Even law enforcement officials have praised the "style" of the ALF cells, as they are hard to infiltrate and detect. As anyone can be ALF, its actually a perfect tactic for confronting people such as your self, who admit they would like to kill,also shops and other outlets of animal cruelty and sponsorship of vivisection.

if this guy was so much a loon, he still had the 'sound reason of mind' when he allegedly asserted that animals are dying. thats a fact, they are dying. so why was he mad for saying the truth as he died?
he was a martyr, he is a martyr, not just for ALF, but for all those involved in the struggle against the "system", a system that has, if he was ill, failed yet again to protect people with mental health issues. no change there then.........
