Stop the EDL in Stoke

Nottingham Unite Against Fascism | 15.01.2010 00:55 | Anti-racism | Sheffield

On Saturday 23 January, the fascist English Defence League are attempting to demonstrate in Stoke. And we're going to be there too.

The EDL say they are going to naming the day "Luton Soldier Day" and collecting money for this injured soldier from Luton (who just so happens to have 2 family members in the EDL according to their website).

Stoke already has NINE BNP councillors, and Simon Darby is apparently going to be the BNP candidate in the general election.

Nottingham Unite Against Fascism have organised a coach on the day.
10am
Outside The Salution Inn on Maid Marrian Way.

Breaking The Rules??????

According to the charities and donations law, anybody wanting to collect donations from the general public must be registered with the local authority in-charge of the town, city or district, and there are strict rules about the type of containers what can be used for such purposes.

Have the EDL passed it with Stoke City Council?

Might well be worth enquiring with the council, as their aims to pretend to the general public that they are legitimate charity is most surely against the law!
