Freedom To Protest Conference 2010 - planning meeting

Freedom To Protest Conference | 07.01.2010 16:12 | Analysis | Repression | Social Struggles

In 2005 the first Freedom To Protest Conference was held. It brought together around 230 people from 80 varied campaign groups, updating them on changes in the law and providing insight and inspiration on how people were successfully defending their interests and resisting repression - whether on the streets, in court, or elsewhere. Most importantly it promoted co-operation and solidarity among all of us at the sharp end! See www.freedomtoprotest.org.uk for more details.

Since then there have been many changes and developments, so the time is ripe for another conference to promote and encourage continuing resistance to repression. At a London Anarchist Bookfair event in October 2009 a working group was set up to get the ball rolling.

To make this happen an organising meeting is being held in Oxford on 16th January at 2pm. If you are interested in coming, please email  organisers@freedomtoprotest.org.uk for more details. This meeting is only for those who wish to be involved in the practical organising of the conference. We are interested in your suggestions of what workshops would make you want to come - please email us at the  organisers@freedomtoprotest.org.uk address with your comments.
