No Pasaran! - A day of antifascist films at Bradford's 1 in 12 Club.



To commemorate the liberation of the survivors of Auschwitz, a day of antifascist films is being held at Bradford 1 in 12 Club on Saturday 23rd January.

Drop in for one film or come and watch them all. There’ll be fab food throughout the day, as well as the Leeds Anarchist Black Cross bookstall.

Entry is free of charge, but donations are welcome, and any money made will go to support antifascist prisoners. Doors open at 12 Noon.

Film Times:

12.30pm: Hitler – The rise of Evil – Robert Carlisle stars as history’s biggest bastard.

4.30pm: The Pianist - Adrian Brody stars in an epic story of survival in Nazi-occupied Poland.

7.30pm: The 43 Group – The inspiring story of the Jewish ex-servicemen and women who smashed Mosely’s fascists off the streets of post-World War 2 Britain.

8.00pm: Edelweiss Pirates – The true story of young antifascists taking on the Nazis in war-time Cologne.

its kind of ironic& a shame that its often anarchists& good universal soldiers who enforce human rights law whilst UN generals& police often get their hands tied or corrupted. Heres to the day when democracy & UN means direct democracy & rule by people for the people rather than dictators,G20 or Bilderballs.
The ancient order of foresters & similar mutual societies & Robin hoods really did make Magna Carta happen against Prince John, we need a updated version with real democracy from local to global, until then fascism& extremists will lurk.

This 635 bunch are the most ironic people I've met. I went to one of there events last year. Everyone there was a white atheist, blathering on about how they had to defend blacks and Jews. And despite calling themselves 'antifascists' they were very much into the idea that they were the true hope for humanity and that everyone else was inferior. And that only using violence was going to save the world.

It is very sad.

Ezekiel, I doubt you have ever been to any of our events as we are very conscious about security and don't invite strangers.

We do say that only a militant antifascist movement can protect against the likes of the BNP, and if you're not prepared to get your hands dirty this isnt the group for you.

We will use all necessary force to acheive our aims, against fascists and other enemies.

It's a shame that people have to troll threads like this, and while Ezekiel is not the only one doing so, he is very clearly a fascist, and he has certainly not been to any 635 Group events - Not because they are all 'closed' events, this one for example isn't, but because he's talking bollocks, and the precise sort of bollocks you'd expect from an ignorant fascist.

I'd advise anyone who thinks that antifascists and fascists share any form of moral terrain to come along and watch these films. If they still hold the same opinion afterwards, I'll be happy to assist them in getting to the nearest mental hospital.

These films will move, inspire, shock, and hopefully make people angry too. Sadly, fascism is alive and well, and antifascists need to be prepared to get out onto the streets and confront it.

I will definately be there, Robert Carlisle portrayal of Adolf Hitler was better than Bruno Ganz in Der Untergang and Sir Alec Guiness in The Last 10 Days.

We need more films like this to inspire new generations of Anti Fascists.

635 group kicked out

Hey, interesting that 635 have moved on to the 1 in 12 after being asked to leave the Common Place in Leeds last November. They were told that people had enough of their antisocial attitude and macho behaviour. 1 in 12 should be careful about this lot.

Just look at these examples above - if you don't agree with me I'll take you to a mental hospital... Why so sure you've got all the answers? Not interested in listening to other people? No problem using mental illness as a term of insult? There is a word for these attitudes: FASCISM.

Went and had a great time, cheers to the 635 for putting this on, good films - especially the 43 Group documentary which I advise all anti-fascists to watch to show what can be achieved with the right amount of organisation and dedication.
Thanks to the 1 in 12 Club too, it was my first introduction to the place and loved it, friendly, with good resources etc - just shows what we can do without selling our souls to corporations, a great example of organising ourselves for ourselves - and the food was great!
