Nottingham City Council Makes Vague Legal at Blogger

Nottingham blogger ncclols is told by Council lawyers to stop causing 'distress'

Nottingham City Council's legal department has written to Nottingham blogger ncclols to tell him to stop causing 'distress' to staff and councillors.

The blog, whose purpose is to uncover day to day sharp practise by the council, has reproduced the letter and the reply sent today.

It's not quite clear what legal basis NCC has for telling the blog not to write such things.

This does look pretty weak...

...but it is pathetic that the City Council are trying to intimidate you into stopping. You should publish this as widely as possible and keep us updated on how it goes.

It's a bit worrying that they found out your name and address. Any ideas how?

I very much doubt that the threats have any substance, but we will kick up a massive fuss if they get anywhere.

I know how they got my details, I used to work for them and you have to give your details when you make Freedom of Information requests which I do quite a bit for the blog.

You might to have a read of this series of posts...
