Smash EDO: Gaza Anniversary

Smash EDO | 17.12.2009 20:25 | Smash EDO | Anti-militarism | Palestine | South Coast | World

We are aware that most things tend to take a bit of a break around xmas, but this year the holidays are also the anniversary of the horrific massacres that took place in Gaza from the 27th of December 2008. Predictably, Smash EDO have a few things coming up...

If you are not around to participate, please consider making a donation to the campaign, as funds are needed for the big Remember Gaza event on January 18th. For information about how to donate, go to  http://www.smashedo.org.uk/donate.htm and for updates on the big event make a habit of checking the updates on  http://www.smashedo.org.uk/remember-gaza.htm

TARGET BARCLAYS  http://www.smashedo.org.uk/target-barclays.html

The latest Barclays action was carried out on the 15th of December by activists in Gravesend. For a report of the picket see  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/12/443566.html .

The Barclays campaign continues. Smash EDO are calling for actions against Barclays -the UK's largest investor in the global arms trade and market maker for ITT- during the three week anniversary of the massacre in Gaza, 27 December-18 January. As huge investors in the arms trade they profited from the slaughter in Gaza and deserve to be reminded of this fact around the country. Gaza specific target Barclays flyers will be available to download from the web site shortly. Let us know if you are planning a picket and want it advertised. Report other actions securely on www.indymedia.org.uk.

SATURDAY 9TH JANUARY - Remember Gaza info stall in Churchill Square, Brighton, from 2pm followed by leafleting of Barclays, then a Silent Vigil for the Victims of the Gaza massacre at 5pm.

WEDNESDAY 13TH JANUARY - Naming of the Victims of the Gaza Massacre outside EDO MBM, Home Farm Rd. 2.30 - 6pm. Please note the earlier starting time.

As EDO are closed over Christmas we will take a break from the noise demos for three weeks. The next one will be the January 13th Naming the Dead demo, followed by the REMEBER GAZA event on the 18th. Start your preparations now...

There are nine local contacts for the Remeber Gaza demo so far, so get together and get planning! If your area does not yet have a local contact, consider becoming one!
