Michael Neill | 17.12.2009 13:39 | Smash EDO | Anti-militarism | Palestine | Terror War
Last week the Israeli opposition leader Tzipi Livni had an arrest warrant issued by a British court for her involvement in last years Gaza offensive. Please send the below statement to your Member of Parliament. (M.P.) because elements in the British government seek to have immunity given to alleged war criminals.
“I am a member of your constituency and I am writing to you because I believe that universal jurisdiction for human rights abuses is essential as part of the cause of bringing to justice those who commit crimes against humanity and will oppose any legislation to restrict this power of UK courts.”
Please view the below link, type in your post code, it will then come up showing you local MP’s name, click on his/her name then copy and paste the statement, fill in the details then send it.

David Miliband, Britain’s Foreign Secretary, who has family illegally living in the occupied west bank settlements said. “The Government is looking urgently at ways in which the system might be changed to avoid this arising again.” The Israeli Foreign Ministry described the arrest warrant issued as “the courts cynical LEGAL move.” Earlier this year, Israeli Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon, Shin Bet chief Avi Dichter cancelled their visits to Britain because they feared arrest.

At the heart of it is Britain, as a signatory to the Fourth Geneva Convention (and especially considering Article 146 - http://www.icrc.org/IHL.nsf/COM/380-600168?OpenDocument) has a binding obligation to ensure that those criminals, of the caliber represented by Livni et al, are bought to justice, as in:
"The Contracting Parties shall be under the obligation to search
for persons charged with breaches of the present Convention, whatever
their nationality. They shall further, in accordance with their
national legislation or with the Conventions for the repression of
acts considered as war crimes, refer them for trial to their own
courts, or hand them over for judgment to another Contracting Party."
This is simple and clear.
There is no room for fudge and prevarication.
Thus:
Being in breech of contracted obligations, Milliband stands accused by definition of a criminal act in itself because of the position in government he holds. This act goes by the name TREASON.
This is the correct and specific legal term.
Can some one please post a source for the claim that Milliband has family living in illegal settlements?

What's the problem with Gilad Atzmon?
20.12.2009 13:02
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilad_Atzmon
I see he's an Israeli-born, formerly secular Jewish, British professional jazz musician, very famous in jazz circles, and quite outspokenly opposed to Zionism and some aspects of Judaism.
Here's his personal website: http://www.gilad.co.uk/
What specifically is the problem with him? From a brief scanning of his website he appears to be pretty sane and rational, and not a ranting neo-fascist lunatic. He does seem to be very opposed to Zionism and the Israeli establishment, but then what's wrong with that?

David's Miliband's family in illegal settlements

David Miliband denies visiting family in West Bank settlement
By Bernard Josephs and Simon Griver Tel Aviv
The Jewish Chronicle, 22/11/2007
A report that Foreign Secretary David Miliband took time out to dine with relatives at a Jewish settlement in the West Bank threatened to overshadow his visit to the region this week.
The report, strenuously denied, was broadcast on Israeli Army Radio and comes in the run-up to the Annapolis peace summit next Tuesday. The British government has made clear its opposition to the building of settlements in the occupied territories, and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has pledged a settlement freeze.
A spokesman for the British embassy said that, although Mr Miliband had relatives in Israel, he dined with them in Tel Aviv. “The Foreign Minister was in Jericho on Saturday to meet Palestinian Authority leaders. He certainly was not at any West Bank settlements.”
One of the relatives, David Landau, an insurance agent, said he was at the Tel Aviv dinner. “We are very proud of the Milibands, even if we do not always agree with their political positions on Israel,” he said.
Mr Landau added that most of Mr Miliband’s relatives in Israel are Orthodox, including some West Bank settlers. “But he has no direct connection with them,” he insisted. Both British and Israeli officials declared that Mr Miliband’s visit — the first since he became Foreign Secretary — had been productive.
