Phoney Blair said – these are my lies, and if you don’t like them…well, I have others.

Phoney said "If I had known then that there were no WMDs I would still have thought it right to invade Iraq and even if was against the law to do so".

He added: "I mean obviously I would have had to use and deploy a different set of lies about the nature of a threat which did not exist."

He continued: "I can't really think we'd be better with him and his two sons in charge, but it's incredibly difficult because I know ‘regime change’ was not allowed, legally, as a reason for invading a country ".

He explained it was "the vague impression of Saddam as a threat to the region" because Saddam Hussein had used chemical weapons, which we had given him, against his own people and not our enemies.

"This was obviously the thing that was uppermost in my mind – to lie my way through to what I wanted", Blair said.
