one the tenth of december activists will be out to show there respect to the dead animals though factory farming and vivisection and other vile trades

Thursday 10th December 2009 is International Animal Rights Day.

There will be a silent, peaceful candlelit vigil on the north side of Grey's Monument in Newcastle from 7pm-8pm to remember the animals that have died in the various exploitative industries this year (e.g. factory farming, vivisection, the fur industry etc) and to call for the recognition of the Declaration of Animal Rights.

We will have an information stall with vegan recipes and factsheets, posters, people in animal costumes handing out leaflets, and lots and lots of candles!

If you are interested in coming along, please bring your own tealights and any empty jam jars you can find.

Also please note that this is a *peaceful* event because we believe that striking a respectful, even mournful, tone will be very effective. The purpose is to raise awareness of the number of animals that have died this year and to remind the public of the extent of animal suffering.

Please let us know if you intend to come so we have a rough idea of numbers, and spread the word to anyone who might be interested in coming along.
