Attention to all posting stuff related to EDL

Anarchist Antifa | 06.12.2009 19:56

The EDL forums are buzzing with little quotes from Indymedia, and have taken what has been posted here and plasted it over their forums.

It is NOT useful to post up about any fights that were had, posting threats that may lead to the OB getting arsey with Indymedia. Indymedia, for all you EDL scum that are reading this, is an open news publishing service for the anti-capitalist, anarchists and social justice movements.

Indymedia is NO place to organise or comment, use your connections of affinity groups and collectives to organise BEFORE the events - it will only lead to security issues and possible attack.

The EDL thing they have seen the force of anarchist/antifa movement -- they have seen nothing yet.

the truth

reporting the truth is what indymedia is about...you are not to tell others when and how and what to report. its INDEPENDENT MEDIA. its in the name.its part of the struggle.

i was there

I know what you are saying

I understand what you have posted, but hiding the truth does no good.
The fact is anti fascists were out gunned in Nottingham, and the EDL are more confident than ever.

The advantage the EDL have is that they are experienced fighters from football matches.
While on the other hand not that many anti fascists, if any, have experience of being in regular fights.
These EDL will have been involved in scores of fights.
That is where the problem lies, and it will do no good covering it up.

Perhaps you're right, that antifascists were outgunned in Notts, I don't know as I wasn't there. However, if you believe that not many antifascists have experience of fighting, then I'd suggest that you know fuck all about antifascism in the UK. Just cos EDL may have come up trumps in Notts does not mean that there aren't any battlehardened or capable antifascists out there- by any means.

Really what it's about?

"is an open news publishing service for the anti-capitalist, anarchists and social justice movements. "

Sorry, been there, done that. Back in the 60's a few of us anarchists organized the second "free U" at Penn* as a protest against this sort of "free" at the "Free U of NY". Not that we weren't perfectly good members of the "left", but "free expression means "free expression" -- NO ideological constraint.

It might sound OK at first, just censor the "right" but who exactly do you trust to be the censors? You have a very limited background in the history of the "left" if you've never seen one left group acusing another of being "counter-revolutionary rightists".

Been on the editorial cooperative of an Indymedia site (actually, my password probably still works). But I would have zero interest "free for the right thinking purists".

* It was quite successful -- but humorously some of the "rightists" doubted that we were serious claiming "anybody can offer to teach whatever" and signed up to provide offerings in the expectation we would trun them down (and then they backed out when we didn't).

My point

06.12.2009 23:02

My point was that it seems people are using indymedia in this specific context to communicate to other antifascists militants -- there are other channels to do this, that are secure that should be used. Being involved in militant antifascism it is always best to mention the least possible amount of information no matter how succesful something was. We are in this for the long haul and don't want to see people banged up for what they write.

what?

06.12.2009 23:29

what exactly are people going to get banged up for? short tempered comments on a comments page of an indymedia website?

this is nothing. all over the world, so called "criminal" actions happen in the name of anti-capitalism and animal liberation, its getting posted everywhere and some of it on indymedia - SEE NOTICE ABOUT CASH MACHINES GETTING FIRED UP on indymedia. indymedia being an outlet for reports from the front line is what its supposed to be about. and can we get one thing straight:The EDL outnumbered anti-fa during one fight only, the rest of the time they were out numbered and out flanked. the police kept them from getting seriously hurt...thats no shit.

if someone takes it upon themselves to hit back at an EDL member or a pub that supported them, so what? and if they discuss it here, so what? SMASH EDO have asked people to target a multi national corporation, Barclays Bank, ....what are we to do, ask them not to do it on indymedia?

get real.

some anti-fascists dont have the luxury of knowing loads of dedicated people, willing to meet up and get together to plan something. others just have their PC or Mac and a website address to post news and reports. Yes, people can organise on their own...but where are they? where the fuck are they? no where.........except on here!! we mention ideas and postulate and theorise and discuss and argue...then someone does something about it or doesn't......whats the problem?

fuck the EDL'S forums...who cares...that means we're doing our job if they react and take it serious, because it is fucking serious. "we" mention on here all the time about what this group or that group are saying on their sites, like what the BNP say on theirs or what BP or SHELL say on theirs...whats the fucking difference if our enemies do the same? ITS WAR, remember....sides are spying on each other and listening and watching all the time.

for example: what if someone said, attack weatherspoons for hosting the EDL...and then someone attacks weatherspoons in, say, london, where the EDL were not present on saturday...who is to fear that? not me, as i am not in london, im not even in england at the moment...so what are you really saying?

that you're scared? EDL are not to be scared of....they are weaklings. stay strong. fight on.

EDL win/lose?

Don't know if we were "outgunned" in Notts but the EDL got beaten off the streets in Brum for sure, they know it we know it, they did fuck all in Wrexham too, only a few of the wankers turned out.
