SIGN THE COUNCIL MOTION PETITION
As many of you will be aware a motion condemning the activities of EDO was refused a hearing when handed in by the Green Party to the Brighton and Hove Council during the bombardment of Gaza in January. The reason given was that "the issue is not directly related to Brighton and has no bearing on the well being of the City". There will be another attempt by the Green Party to convince the Council to table a motion, this time accompanied by a petition. If you live in Brighton and Hove, add your name to the petition to show them that the people of the City DO care about the fact that we host a company who profit form murder.
To sign the petition go to: http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?edoitt2
The motion will be handed in at 4pm on Thursday 10th December at an open meeting so if you can, feel free to come along and support the motion from the public gallery. It will be in either Brighton or Hove Town Hall but location will only be known a day in advance. See www.indymedia.org.uk for details of venue. If accepted by the council, the motion will be discussed on January 28th 2010.
WRITE TO ELIJAH/DECOMMISSIONERS UPDATE
There was a hearing relating to the decommissioners' case at Hove Crown Court on December 1st where the prosecutors failed in their attempt to join the case of the EDO decommissioning court case with charges arising out of the previous month long rooftop occupation of Raytheon in Bristol.
The 9 people in the decommissioning case did not succeed in their challenge of the "no contact" clause of their bail conditions and are therefore still prevented from contacting or seeing each other.
Decommissioner Elijah Smith has now been on remand for over 10 months and is likely to stay in prison until the court case which now starts on the 17th of May 2010. He could do with as much support as possible. He has recently been moved back to Lewes. Please write to him on:
