Ecoworks Clay Plaster / Straw Bale, 9/10 Dec
Ecoworks | 03.12.2009 09:19
The Ecoworks Community Gardens will host two Clay Plaster activity days, on Weds 9th and Thurs 10th December. We will be working between 10.30 and 3.30 each day.
On these days we will be mixing natural clay plaster and applying it to the internal walls of our straw bale building; on wednesday this will involve mixing a clay "slip" and applying it to the straw walls as a base coat; on thursday the job will be to mix a clay and sand mix and apply it as a second coat.
This is an opportunity to experience this fun eco-building technique in a hands-on way (literally!). All are welcome; please wear old clothes and wellies and expect to get muddy! Ecoworks can provide overalls, gloves, and (some) wellies. Also, bring lunch if staying all day - we will provide hot drinks and biscuits.
Ecoworks is situated on the Hungerhill Allotments site in St.Ann's, and is best reached off Ransom Road. There is a gated access to the site, so to arrange access, please ring 07973 116291.
