BNP Humiliated in Newcastle

The BNP is a sight rarely seen on the streets of Newcastle, but today they slithered out from their sewers and attempted to hold a stall in the city centre.
Anti-fascist activists were quickly alerted, and by one o clock a sizeable crowd had gathered. They surrounded the fash, who were stood on the monument, and started a protest. The fash numbers were small, maybe 15 at the most at one time, whereas up to 150 anti-fascists gathered, chanting and mocking the so-called master race. Police turned up and tried to split the protesters, with fash on one side of the road and activists on the other. Although for a while they stated they would arrest people for obstructing the highway, after a while they gave up and the fash were once again surrounded and taunted.
They started packing up at 2ish, at which point activists reclaimed the monument and in no uncertain terms told the remaining dregs to fuck off.
A group of the fash had a bottle of ribena threw over them, next time expect eggs.
There was a number of activist groups within the protest; socialists, anarchists, refugee/asylum rights campaigners, no borders, and a large number of local people who came to show their disgust at the BNP.

The BNP would take away the free speech (and a lot more) from so many groups in society if they had any power. They're facist scum, pure and simple. People just don't want them spreading their racist lies.

It is called Democracy.
Part of what people object to in the BNP Scum is that they promote lies, hatred and the destruction of the traditional way of life of these islands: freedom, hope and the rejection of fascism.

Whatever, the fact is that the BNP are not humiliated by stunts like this. They use them to gain publicity and meanwhile stack up the votes. I remember the excitement when Griffin was mobbed when in court in Leeds, claimed as a victory for anti-fascists, yet two years on Griffin and Brons are MEPS.
You really want to beat the BNP? Then sorry, but a few saturday afternoon outings won't do it. It takes working with people day in day out, gaining friends and respect. It will take a very diferrent kind of politics than the student shoutiness the left as relied on for decades and has failed us all.
By the way this is the reality away from Indymedia; in Fenham ward in Newcastle the BNP vote has gone from zero in 2006, to 250 in 2007, to 295 in 2008 and 836 in January 2009

when i used to live slightly south of here there used to be regular anti-abortion demos in the town centre and nobody opposed them at all. they would display huge blown-up photos of fetuses and all sorts. i was only nineteen that year and had just survived a rape followed by an abortion, it would have meant a lot to me if there had been some oppostion then, and it means a lot to my immigrant friends now that the BNP are opposed when they appear in our town.

i prefer to do both, find it very satisfying in fact. work hard every day, week in week out, building networks and supporting each other, but take a couple of hours off on a saturday afternoon to go shout at some fash and drown them out, thus preventing them from upsetting any passersby with their threats (and networking at the same time, come to think of it!).

1] Why not report that the BNP members were made up of ages from 16 to 75 with an average age of about 45?
2] Why not report that the BNP were dressed smart or smart casual (No knuckle dragging Nazi Skinheads anywhere)
3] Why not report that you were screeming abusives at a 4ft.9 75 year old woman (who had just came to look at our leaflet) by thrusting a megaphone into a her face and yelling down to her that she was Nazi scum?
4] Why not report that you made NO attempt to confront the BNP until you felt safe in numbers by inviting every poor excuse of an action group to your counter demo? (BNP or Anarchist's... who would the public vote for?)
5] Why not report that a lady who came to visit her BNP member husband had a "DEATH THREAT" made against her by one of your unwashed lot, even though she was there with her child and had nothing to do with the BNP?
6] Why not report that the BNP never rose to your feeble attempts for a confrontation and we just laughed in your face?
7] Why not report that YOU have not looked at the BNP policies, dont know what we represent but feel that you NEED to confront us because it is "the current in thing" amongst your rabble?

And, heres a few quick responses to the points made by the BNP activist -
Firstly, you say that the age range of people present was 16 - 75. Are you forgetting the two kids you had there, aged maybe 7 or 8 at the most? What the fuck is wrong with you? Not only are you brainwashing your kids with fascist dogma, but your also putting them in a very intimidating situation. Absolutely disgraceful.
Secondly, you say you were dressed smart or smart casual. I'm sorry, but this is such a huge lie that its actually embarrassing. One of you lot was clearly off his head on drugs, as he kept stumbling around and nearly falling asleep whilst standing. Everyone there was laughing at him, and it was actually painful to watch something so humiliating.
As for the rest of you, it seemed to be either cheap tracksuits or suits from Matalan. So don't go for the 'we're so respectable and smart' bullshit.
As for the 75 year old woman who was so-called verbally abused, i think you'll find that she was threatening numerous protestors and had to be dragged away by both police and yourselves a couple of times.
You also had some stupid fucking punk fella who kept making sieg heil salutes.

Firstly, I honestly cannot remember the 2 children who you refer too? I have also asked other BNP members and supporters who were there if they had any knowledge of the 2 children, and all have stated that no children was present except for the 17 year old girl (if you would call that age a child?).
Secondly, You state that "one of our lot was off his head", I can remember that person with whom you are refering too. I can assure you that the person and his friend (yes there were 2 of them) had NOT been invited by any member of the BNP and was unknown to us, these 2 people were passing and decided to "join in", you may recall a member of the BNP talking to a woman police officer? That member was actually asking the police to remove that person but the police refused because he had not commited an offence.
You state that the clothes worn by the BNP were cheap or from Matlan? Well maybe they were or maybe they were not, I am not an expert on fashion and nor do I shop in Matlan....But at least the BNP had taken the time to get out of bed early, get WASHED, combed their hair and put some CLEAN clothes on, which is more than can be said about the rabble which came to protest.
Thirdly, So the 75 year old woman was "threatening numerous protestors" (that really made me laugh) That 75 year old woman was trying to tell the protestors that her father had fought (and been injured) in both world wars and that she was not a "Nazi Scum" as the rabble were screaming, the police then made her step back as they feared for her safety, she was NOT "dragged back" as you put it.
Fourthly, The "Punk fellow" was a passing shopper from Sunderland and not a member of the BNP, I did not see him make any "sieg heil salutes" but if he did then he is NOT welcome in the BNP, maybe he will join the Anarchist group as there were only 3 or 4 of them?
And finally, YES we ARE a lovely bunch of people.

The 2 kids turned up with their mother and father after about 2, one boy one girl, the parents had the boy hold up one of your BNP signs. Numerous people were disgusted by this and i saw some people take photos so i'm sure photographic evidence will soon be available. On another note, you had another kid there who looked barely over 15. Nice to see the BNP exploiting vulnerable young people for political purposes.
You talk about us being unwashed and wearing dirty clothes. Are you seriously confused? You had two drugdealers, one nearly drooling all the over the monument cause he was so fucked, you had a nazi punk (who had numerous tattoos of swastikas that he kept showing off, and yes he was sieg heil saluting) as well as a load of charvers. Nowt wrong with a tracksuit in my opinion, but talk about calling the kettle black!

The 75 year old woman, I think you'll find that she was actually telling people to 'piss off home'. And that one anti-fascists response to her was that their grandfather used to shoot people like the BNP in the war.
You really are the dregs of society aren't you. And the fact that literally over a hundred people inititated a protest against you, with no prior knowledge of such a protest taking place, shows that you simply do not and will not have the support of Newcastle people.

Quite apart from minor historic episodes like the BNP attacking a meeting at Welling Public Library with hammers, chair-legs and swinging bike-chains, crash helmets and fire-extinguishers, slashing Liverpool Anti-Fascist Alec McFadden's face with a Stanley knife, and the nail-bombs planted by former BNP steward David Copeland, what the BNP mean by "the day of the rope" is that they make no secret of the fact that if they ever got into power (!) they'd reintroduce the death penalty.
The BNP are OBSESSED with what they refer to as "traitors". These are not traitors in the conventional sense (like Oswald Mosley and William "Lord Haw Haw" Joyce of the British Union of Fascists) but "race traitors" and anyone who "supported" multiculturalism - in other words all non-white people, anyone of mixed-race, and anyone who opposed the BNP. They'd have us all HUNG. The right to defend yourself against a homicidal ideology is more slightly more important than protecting the BNP's right to defame entire communities.
