Saturday 14th November, 6.30pm
Saturday 14th November, 6.30pm
The aim of the Abundance project is to harvest the seasonal glut of unpicked trees (to stop the fruit going to waste) and redistribute the surplus to the community on a non-for-profit basis. For more information, please visit: http://abundancenottingham.wordpress.com
Abundance News in Brief:
* Volunteers have harvested trees from all over Nottingham – including: Forest Fields, Basford, Clifton, Sneinton, St. Anns, Wollaton, the Meadows, Radford and further a-field!
* The project now has over sixty fruit trees mapped for harvesting in future years and over ninety people on the volunteering/getting involved mailing list!
* With the picked fruit ‘Abundance’ volunteers have made jams, chutneys, juice, mincemeat, pies, crumbles, roasted chestnuts and more and distributed these to the community.
* Fruit and other foods made from the fruit have been delivered to: Salvation Army Elderly Care Home in Sneinton, Emmanual House, Trent Crossroads, Handel Street Centre, Nottingham and Notts Refugee Forum, Groundwork Play Rangers and the Happy Days Play Project, the Urban Harvest Festival, St. Anns Community Orchard for ‘Apple Day’ and other places!
To celebrate these achievements, we thought it was time to have a party!
Tasty vegan food (incorporating local and foraged foods handpicked by abundance volunteers) will be served from 6.30pm til it’s all gone! Food will be followed by music from local DJs and friends (see attached poster).
We hope you can come along and enjoy some delicious food and celebrate with us!
