New Bristol Leftist Blog

A new blog has been set up in Bristol which seeks to give analysis of news and analysis from a leftist perspective in the Bristol area as well on national and international issues.

It's welcome message says:-

Comrades,

We are the People's Collective of Bristol, an autonomous group of left-wing political activists who have decided to mock and rant at the world in order to vent our anger and bemusement towards the lunacy that guides our age.

We don't expect this blog to be the next big thing but if we lighten someones day with a satire of the latest bizarre twist to hit the political establishment or make another person aware of how fucking stupid the idea of making big cuts to public services in a recession is then we will have done our job.

This is not a party political blog but naturally, as lefties, we hate Tories and Nazis - and liberals are a bunch of wanky, sandle-wearing fence-sitters. We like trade unions, public ownership and drugs (only joking on the last one...replace drugs with Irn-Bru).

Hasta La Victoria Siempre

Why don't you like drugs?

Why don't you like drugs? Nothing wrong with getting off your head once in a while.

Are you straight-edgers or do you exclude alcohol, tobacco, coffee, etc. from the term "drugs"?

on drugs

The comment was a light-hearted one, actually taking the piss out of the idea that lefties are often defined by the stereotype of drug-use. It isn't to say that in reality we either like or dislike non-legal drugs (or any frequency of use for that matter) and it is certainly fair to say that we all are frequent legal drug users.

I take it you didn't find that one amusing? We will try better next time. Keep an eye out for new articles.
