70 People march on Novartis

Info@Shac.net | 01.11.2009 18:05

Despite attempted oppression by injunction a small march still took place.

Although numbers were down from last year a small and noisy demo still took place - this is one in the eye for TLC and Novartis - we will be heard.

There was 70 people because...

02.11.2009 08:04

From what I understand, this was a local protest (like the one in Newcastle recently), it was not a national (that happened at Highgate a few weeks ago). There were other local protests on the same day, at Sequani, Wickham, Portsmouth Docks etc... So the movement was spread about at multiple targets.

I would say that is a positive thing, and 70 people at a little advertised local demo is pretty good going - it was never intended to be a large protest.

Not true Roger

National Demo 31st October.
This is the big one folks.

On Saturday 31st October there will be a march and demonstration at Novartis (Horsham, W.Sussex).

This facility holds primates, guinea pigs and rabbits which are all used in horrific tests for Novartis' commercial products. As well as this, Novartis pay for even more tests to be carried out at the notorious Huntingdon Life Sciences.

and...

Big build up to the National Day of Action at Novartis, Horsham on Halloween!

It was a SHAC NATIONAL and nationally advertised on SHAC - nobody turned up!

70 seems a good turnout to me?

02.11.2009 10:46

Why are people criticising a reasonable turnout on a demo?

Pete

I have just seen

02.11.2009 10:54

On the same day as 70 people marched against Novartis in Horsham, 50 people protested at Sequani, and I have heard there was a good turnout at Wickham Labs, as well as at Portsmouth greyhound track AND Portsmouth Harbour. This is just in the south. There were also other protests in other regions of the country.

Seems to me like a day we should be proud of and just goes to show the diversity of our movement.

Well done everyone who did something positive this Halloween!

The numbers are down from last year

02.11.2009 11:24

There is nothing wrong with 70 - I think the initial alarm on the day and on here is that numbers were so reduced from last year and what the Police had been expecting.

It's Fine

ignore "shacwatch" in all guises

02.11.2009 12:33

This pathetic clown makes negative comments to spark something off on a regular basis on IMC. Most likely spends each day trawling the net for shac news to negatively comment on. What a "life" eh?

Still, animal abusers all round the UK as mentioned above got another deserved hammering at the weekend!

Many demos, and many hunts to sab

02.11.2009 13:50

There were local demos all over the country hence why numbers were spread out, good turn out at most of them too from what I hear. Also with it being fox hunting season many of us were following our local hunts to sab them, rather than attending demos.

A single demo is not a reflection upon the animal rights movement, there are many causes to fight for all in the name of one struggle. People need to look at the broader picture, rather than critiquing a single demo.

Can't wait for the SHACwatch national!

02.11.2009 14:07

A couple of Novartis' reject security guards and one or two cops with paper bags on their heads! Come on SHACwatch, when is your first demo taking place - It's one I definitely don't want to miss out on!

Can't wait!

Shacwatch national - you missed it

02.11.2009 19:47
