Anti-capitalist block on stop the Afghan war march

Anti-capitalist | 23.10.2009 09:37 | Terror War

The anti-capitalist block will assemble at Speakers Corner at 12noon for the national demonstration against the war in Afghanistan. We need to get as many anarchists and anti-capitalists to march together in a big block. We don't want the SWP to dominate with everyone holding SWP placards.

So bring anarchist flags and banners and your own placards if possible. A really big anarchist/anti-capitalist presence on this march is expected. The stop the Afghan war demonstration will be assembling at Hyde Park, Marble Arch end from 12noon onwards on Saturday the 24th of October and then from 1pm marching to Trafalgar Square. As this is on the same day as the anarchist bookfair chances are a lot of people will be there, more back door sectarianism from the swp.

The issue of the Afghan war is far more serious!

The issue of the war on Afghanistan is far more serious than any stupid bookfairs! It has already spread over the border into neighbouring Pakistan and threatens to destablise the entire region. Iran is now next in the sights of NATO war chiefs. This could easily lead to World War III. Going to the anarchist bookfair instead of going on the anti-war demonstration is like playing the flute while Rome is burning.

Yeah, you're right, this demo is going to be entirely different to the rest of the piss poor StWC marches of the past. What will it achieve? Most likely the same as the rest...
That said, I hope that there's a decent anarchist block inseminating propaganda on the march and hopefully bringing a few more people to the bookfair!

Demos against war

'Going to the anarchist bookfair instead of going on the anti-war demonstration is like playing the flute while Rome is burning'.

Because all the anti-war demos since the big one in 2003 have made such a difference to how much war the British state is involved internationally.
